Monday, April 16
Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach
the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the
captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
Living Father and Loving Savior:
Nobody but you, Jesus! No one but you can free the captives. Real freedom
comes only from one place and at a price—salvation is in your shed blood.
IT IS A FREEDOM RIGHTEOUSLY BESTOWED. Your Son is heir of all things,
so he has the right to make men and women free. Lord, I honor your righteous
justice, which has secured the salvation of my family and friends—not because
you skipped their sin, but because Jesus died for it.
IT IS A FREEDOM COSTLY PURCHASED. We proclaim it by Christ’s power,
but he bought it with his blood. Jesus, you will make my network of neighbors,
family and friends free, but only by your own bondage to death. I go clear and
liberated, because you bore pain and punishment for me.
IT IS A FREEDOM FREELY GIVEN. There is nothing you ask of me by way of
preparation. You saved me just as I am—without any help or merit—by your free
grace. Do so for _________ and _________, and my other lost friends.
IT IS A FREEDOM CONFERRED FOREVER. I cannot fall into bondage again.
Satan still plots to enslave me, but my salvation’s security is eternal. If you are on
my side Lord, whom shall I fear? You are mightier than the world and its
enticements. My own deceitful heart harasses and annoys me, but you have
started a good work you will make sure to carry out (Phil. 1:6).
IT IS A FREEDOM THAT HAS TO BE DISPLAYED. Help me serve you with
gratitude and with good attitude in front of the lost. Lord, what will you have
me do today? I seek to do it for Jesus’ sake and by his power. Amen.

TUESDAY—FOCUS ON CHRIST’S LIFE
Chronological Bible Reading: Psalms 6; 9-10; 14; 16; 21
Tuesday, April 17
Luke 1:53 He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty
away.
Lord God Who Formed Me:
I do so want showers of blessing, but first I must confess how dry I am;
how thirsty a wilderness my life is. I need revival for survival! O that a spirit of
revival would pass through our church! Second, I will cultivate true praying.
Ezek. 36:37 Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will yet for this be inquired of by the
house of Israel, to do it for them; I will increase them with men like a flock.
I have your promise, but I’ve not pleaded it as I should. That’s like having
your signed check and never depositing it in the bank. It’s my own fault if I never
have revival, because the very least thing you can ask of me is that I ask of you—
that I force myself to recognize my desperate dependence and beg you for it.
Third, I must carry-out my own efforts. It is crazy for me to pray for a
harvest of souls and never put out any seed. To pray for church services and not
invite anyone to come with me. Nothing is more insulting to your majesty than to
pray for revival, and fold my arms and stay sitting (oh Lord).
Let me get hold of more people. Put me on the lookout on Sundays! I want
to find new people and visitors I can tell my experience of your love. If I don’t
get a chance to talk to them, I can email. A word from me may be as good as a
sermon. Help me do anything—do everything—to bring them to Jesus, because
it is while I am working that I find you working beside me. You are never
slower than your people. You have me praying for revival because you are already
determined to give it! You have me hungry for what you have already prepared.
Do not let me add to my other sins the sin of unbelief on this point. We do not
despise your mercy, but crave your grace towards us, Jesus! Amen.
FRIDAY— CORPORATE PRAYER MINISTRY
Chronological Bible Reading: 1 Chronicles 3-5
Friday, April 20
Psa. 67:3 Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee.
Almighty Lord and Mighty Master:
Enable us, by your grace and the assistance of your Spirit, to sweep our
community clean of crime, unbelief, addiction and superstition. Make our church
a way station on the “underground railroad” out of bondage to sin. Deliver our
neighbors, family and friends from the drunkenness and ignorance they live in.
We want the whole earth to behold the brightness of your coming! Make them
ready for your reign Jesus, by now freeing them out of sin’s power now.
Father, save any in our church this Sunday who have so far remained
unreconciled to you through your Son Jesus. Touch even today some careless
heart with your sacred finger; stir it alive to your sacrifice for sin. Touch now!
Touch them even if they only come to our church out of curiosity. Lay your hand
on their heart to impart a spiritual gift. May their conscience say, “I must trust
Jesus for eternal life today!”
And oh, give us the power to set aside our pride and put away the sins of
the flesh. Touch our conscience and gird it with strength, so our will can submit,
and our thoughts and rationalizations yield, and our affection and emotions
bow, so you will reign over our hearts as well as our heads. Subdue our rebellion
to your loving dominion. Again I say,
Psa. 67:3 Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee.
Let everyone who comes to our church as an unbeliever this Sunday get
saved on that day. Let the good seeds of the witness we sow today drop into
ground that welcomes it. Point us to hearts where planted seed can be watered,
so from there it will bring forth a harvest to your glory. Unto your name be the
WEDNESDAY—REVIVAL PRAYING
Chronological Bible Reading: 1 Chronicles 1-2; Psalms 43-44
Wednesday, April 18
Prov. 25:4 Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for
the finer.
Divine Father:
Today I adore you for your ways with me. Sometimes you put me into the
furnace. You are a refiner unto me, and the fire is meant to destroy my sin, and
so I thank you for it. I praise you for your wisdom and love in all acts of
discipline you subject me to, because you are my Father. I thank you for not
allowing me to live in sin, because sin is so much worse than the refining fire.
The trial that burns me most is not as heavy to bear as the guilt of the sin.
Lord, if you give me the choice to keep my sin but live in pleasure, or have sin
burned-away by trial and affliction, I choose the latter. Bring on the good pain
and the sanctified affliction; just deliver me from the influence of iniquity! Release
me from every evil habit, from the baggage of past sins, from all the dross mixed
in with the precious metal, from anything that diminishes the brightness of your
grace in me, and from everything that keeps you from taking delight in me. I beg
you Lord, take it all away, and so give me revival! Make my life the crucible and
the burning heat, just so long as you sit at the mouth of the furnace to watch your
image reflected in the resulting purity, and to see that nothing is lost.
O blessed Lord, help each of your children who are taking the heat right
now. Enable us all to look up and see you near, watching, because then we can
feel completely at peace. If I am in your hands, then all things are well—really
well, and I need not anxiously worry.
Give me exactly that view of my trials and troubles today. Make me see
them—and even appreciate them—when I watch them in the light of the glory
being produced by them. Make me be just like Jesus. For his sake do it! Amen.
SATURDAY—IN THE PSALMS

Saturday, April 21
Psa. 44:1 We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work
thou didst in their days, in the times of old.
Almighty God and Master:
Godly parents are the best teachers. Let me not be tongue-tied when it
comes to my children (physical or spiritual), or they will remain sin-tied. Help me
give full expression to the history of your work in me. Let me make others see
the footprints of the Lord in my changing circumstances (but to do that, I must
first be able to see them myself).
I cannot be inactive, but my valor is secondary to the Holy Spirit’s
miraculous work in my life. Canaan was not conquered without the armies of
Israel, but it was not conquered by them either. You Lord, are the Conquistador.
Make me an instrument in the Hero’s hands. You are worthy of all this praise!
Psa. 44:8 In God we boast all the day long, and praise thy name for ever. Selah
Give me union and communion with you today, because the conquests of
believers are always spoken of as being through you, and through your name. Let me
not go to battle in my own strength, because then is when I fail most miserably.
But keep me also from the equally dangerous sin of not trusting you, and
therefore not leaning-in and stepping to the battle against the enemy at all!
Today I am a timid and defenseless sheep, but you can make me strong.
Make me push as with the horn of a unicorn until your purpose is established
around me. I can barely stay on my feet sometimes, but divine assistance will
enable me to proclaim the victory. Give me your double-action of both blessing
me and confounding my enemies, and while Pharaoh drowns I will pass through
the waters. I need you Lord, for I cannot save myself, even in a temporal sense.
Give me your grace in Christ Jesus the Lord. And Amen.

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the
strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus
Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had
prayed.
“Oh,” says one, “I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times
and seasons for prayer.” And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of
prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the
injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore
there must not be some season for more immediately coming into God’s presence. If
you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus
Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather
than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and
exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be
deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only
spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayer—the posture, the
time, place—rather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition.
God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son.
