PHOTO CONTEST
BACKGROUND:
November of each year marks several environmental events such as National Clean Air Month, National
Environmental Awareness Month (Republic Act 9512) and National Climate Change Consciousness Week
(November 19-25).
This year, the celebration is anchored on the theme “Green Schools…Build Sustainable and Climate
Resilient Communities”. To highlight this theme and make the celebration more meaningful, the
Department of Environment and Natural Resources in Region 8, together with the Environmental
Management Bureau, Regional Office 8, shall conduct a photo contest. The contest shall enjoin the
participation of young people in Eastern Visayas and maximize their current interest in social media.
GUIDELINES:
1. Open to all youth in Eastern Visayas ages 16 – 21 yrs. old, whether in or out of school.
2. Photos should best describe the theme “Green Schools…Build Sustainable and Climate Resilient
Communities”.
3. Entries should be submitted to and received by the Regional Public Affairs Office, DENR Region 8,
Tacloban City, Sto. Niño Ext., Tacloban City not later than November 18, 2016.
4. All submitted entries must be printed in 8” x 12” photo paper with no borders. Each printed
entry should be accompanied by an electronic copy with a resolution of not lower than (3 MP)
2048 x 1536 pixels together with the following:
A title for the shot
The photographer’s name, address and contact nos.
Date and place the photo was taken as well as any details of the photo.
All photos submitted / entered will be judged for relevance, appropriateness and compliance with the
rules. The team will simply select the photos that strike them most based on creativity composition,
artistic merit, brilliance and richness of the colors and the adherence to the Theme.
Participants with successful entries will be notified through text and be invited on the programs. Chosen
photos will be posted on the exhibits and will be used for the property of DENR in IEC Campaign
materials. Note that photographers will be recognized.
