Materials Needed
● Sock weight yarn, approx 75 grams
(about 300 yards for an adult hat,
plus more for a pompom if desired)
● Size E hook
● Yarn needle

Dc2tog: ​Double crochet two together. YO,
draw up a loop, YO, draw through 2 loops,
YO, draw up a loop, YO, draw through 2
loops, YO, draw through all 3 loops on
hook.
Dc3tog:​ Double crochet three together. YO,
draw up a loop, YO, draw through 2 loops,
YO, draw up a loop, YO, draw through 2
loops, YO, draw up a loop, YO, draw
through 2 loops, YO, draw through all 4
loops on hook.
Brim
Ch 20
R1:​ 1 hdc third ch from hook and in each st
across (18)
R2:​ Ch 1, 1 hdc in back loop only of each
stitch across (18)
Repeat row 2 until you have made 69 rows.
Slip stitch to connect the ends and form a
circle for the brim of the hat. Work slip
stitches through the first row, slipping into
the back loops of the last row. Do not bind
off.

Body
R1:​ working along the side of the brim, ch 1
(​does not count as sc​) then work 2 sc into
the side of each hdc row. Do this until the
end. Sl st to first sc. (138)

in the next 9 st, ch 2, skip 2 st, 3 dc in next
st, ch 2, skip 2 st, dc2tog, 1 dc in next 3 st,

Repeat rows 3-8 three times for a beanie, or
four times for a slouchy hat. Bind off,
Using a yarn needle, pull the yarn straight
across through the middle to the other side
of the tube. Continue to sew this way,
moving through the middle and across,
cinching tightly to pull the edges to the
middle. Repeat this until the edges have all
been cinched closed, bind off, and weave in
the end. Weave in the yarn end at the
beginning of the brim.
Add a pompom if you want, or wear it how it
is!
