Which of the following do you find most difficult to

Gryffindor Ravenclaw Hufflepuff Slytherin

Hunger 10% (83/798) 29% (225/773) 28% (276/983) 10% (78/800)

Being ignored 11% (89/798) 32% (244/773) 12% (117/983) 27% (214/800)

This is a pretty strange distribution. Gryffindor and Ravenclaw both have

primary answers and both favor 2 answers. Hufflepuff and Slytherin either
score equal or second to another house, but they both favor 3 answers. I think
the last three answers make the most sense given the houses' traits.

1. Hunger = Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff equally.

2. Cold = Hufflepuff and Slytherin equally.
3. Loneliness = Gryffindor primary and Hufflepuff secondary.
4. Boredom = Gryffindor primary and Slytherin secondary.
5. Being ignored = Ravenclaw primary and Slytherin secondary.

 Slytherin is most resistant to loneliness and Hufflepuff is most resistant to

 Gryffindor seems to have a preference for the Dragon toad and the Tabby
cat but favors the other pets more or less equally.
 Ravenclaw favors owls most along with the Three toed tree toad, then cats
and toads equally.
 Hufflepuff favors toads most along with the Snowy owl, then owls and cats
equally.
 Slytherin favors cats most (with a slight dislike for the tabby cat), then
owls and toads equally.

Based on these observations I think the best indicators for a house are:

1. Gryffindor = Dragon toad and Tabby cat

2. Ravenclaw = Tawny owl, Brown owl and Barn owl. Then Screech owl,
Snowy owl and Three toed tree toad.
3. Hufflepuff = Common toad, Natterjack, Harlequin toad. Then Three toed
tree toad, Dragon toad and Snowy owl.
4. Slytherin = All cats (but the Tabby cat is most likely an indicator of
Gryffindor).

3. Hufflepuff = The wide, sunny, grassy lane.
4. Slytherin = The narrow, dark, lantern-lit alley.

Ravenclaw and Slytherin both have two primary answers. Gryffindor and
Hufflepuff have primary answers and secondary answers.

1. Gryffindor = Secrets about the castle primary, flying on a broomstick

(along with Hufflepuff) and Apparition and Disapparition (second to
Slytherin) secondary.
2. Ravenclaw = Transfiguration and every area of magic primary.
3. Hufflepuff = Magical creatures primary, flying on broomstick secondary
(along with Gryffindor).
4. Slytherin = Hexes and jinxes and Apparition and Disapparition primary.

Trolls 6% (49/827) 8% (63/797) 22% (208/936) 19% (146/768)

I am not sure if Gryffindor and Ravenclaw score equally on centaurs and

ghosts or if they are both Gryffindor primarily. The same goes for werewolves,
the differences on those questions are quite small. For now, I'll just call all of
them Gryffindor primary answers. Goblins are clearly associated with
Ravenclaw, Vampires with Slytherin and Hufflepuff with trolls.

1. Gryffindor = Werewolves, centaurs and ghosts’ primary.

2. Ravenclaw = Goblins primary, centaurs and ghosts secondary.
3. Hufflepuff = Trolls primary, merpeople (along with Slytherin) and
werewolves (second to Gryffindor) secondary.
4. Slytherin = Vampires primary, trolls and merpeople (along with Hufflepuff)
secondary.
A troll has gone berserk in the Headmaster’s study at
Hogwarts. It is about to smash, crush and tear several
irreplaceable items and treasures. In which order
would you rescue these objects from the troll’s club, if
you could?

Here each house has two favored answers. The defining traits for the four
houses are probably as follows:

1. Gryffindor cares most about a nearly perfected cure for dragon pox.
2. Ravenclaw cares most about the mysterious handbook full of strange
runes.
3. Hufflepuff cares least about the mysterious handbook full of strange runes.
4. Slytherin cares least about a nearly perfected cure for dragon pox.
The first and last question contain traits from 2 houses, so those houses score
equally.

I think here each house has its primary answer where it dominates and a
secondary answer where it scores equally to another house.

1. Gryffindor = Praised primarily, trusted secondarily (along with Hufflepuff).

2. Ravenclaw = Imitated primarily, envied secondarily (along with Slytherin).
3. Hufflepuff = Liked primarily, trusted secondarily (along with Gryffindor).
4. Slytherin = Feared primarily, envied secondarily (along with Ravenclaw).
