Brainstorm Class discussion in which students will be asked provoking questions about prior knowledge. Students
will identify slope, coefficients, y-intercept from y=mx+b formula and recall how to manipulate an
equation?
KWL Chart Students fill in a KWL chart- “What I Know,” “What I Want to Know,” and “What I learned” while
reading the section 1 of chapter 5. Students can formulate detailed sentences or draw pictures, with
descriptions, about what they are reading.
Flashcards Students review important concepts for the current section by reviewing online flashcards via Quizlet.
Concepts include: 6 step process for Solving Systems by graphing, how to identify a solution to a
system, what the 3 different types of solutions are, and how to check a solution to a system.
Worksheet Students will complete a worksheet with a series of questions ranging from easy to slightly
challenging problems. The problems will ask students to solve systems of equations by graphing as
well as graphing single linear equations for practice.
Mini poster Students choose one system from any classwork worksheet and create a mini poster, individually.
Poster needs to be presentable and colorful with all steps labeled.
Quiz Students are quizzed on important concepts for the current section. Concepts include: 6 step process
for Solving Systems by graphing, how to identify a solution to a system, what the 3 different types of
solutions are, and how to check a solution to a system.
Partner project Students will define the necessary steps you must take to solve a system of equations by
graphing and solve and create systems of equations by graphing in a collaborative partnership.
Final Unit Exam Students are summatively assessed with an online final unit exam. The quiz will include concepts that
students were quizzed on during the formative stage but will also include 2 example problems.
Students will be provided with scratch paper to solve and graph systems, the answer they choose will
be in the form of an ordered pair.
