LEARNING OBJECTIVES : At the end of the lesson, pupils can:
i. Fill in all the blanks by listening to the text 100%
correctly
ii. Comprehend the poem by responding to the
questions 80% correctly
CROSS CURRICULAR ELEMENTS : Language Awareness
ACTIVITIES – :
i. PRE-LESSON 1) Teacher greets the pupils and writes down “My Hero”
on the board.
2) Teacher asks the students to name their heroes.
3) Teacher goes through the title explicitly.
ii. LESSON DEVELOPMENT : 1) Next, teacher moves on by distributing the poem on
“My Hero” to the students.

2) Teacher asks the students to listen to the poem and fill


in the blanks. The recording is played two times.
Teacher checks the answers with the students.
3) Teacher provides 5 minutes to the students to go
through the poem and understand it.
4) Teacher divides the class into 5 groups.
Group 1: Meaning of title
Group 2: Stanza 1
Group 3: Stanza 2
Group 4: Stanza 3
Group 5: Overall meaning of the poem
5) Teacher distributes a Mahjong paper and marker pens to
the groups.
6) Teacher allocates 15 minutes to each group to complete
their work.
iii. POST-LESSON : 1) Teacher asks each group to present their work to the
class. Teacher asks the students to paste their work on
the wall to have a gallery walk.
2) Teacher provides her feedback on students’ work.
3) Teacher asks the students to complete the questions in
the worksheet as homework.
