Week of _March 19, 2018_____________

Responsibilities___I served the landlord of one of our clients whom was their tenant. I
learned how to learn the timesheets and the requirements for TOPA rights. I reviewed
legal documents such as memorandum, retainers, and escrow releases. I also filed my
affidavit of service at the
courthouse.______________________________________________________________

Comments/Reflections__This first week required a lot of reading and learning about the
type of law that the firm works in. I was exhausted every day. These were some very long
days in the
office.__________________________________________________________________

Week of __March 26, 2018______________

Responsibilities__I reviewed the documents that are filed in TOPA cases; I triplicated
files that would go into evidence during trial; I did in-take for new clients that were
Spanish-speaking, and I transcribed notes of a phone call with opposing counsel about
one of our TOPA cases.______

Comments/Reflections___There’s so many steps in reaching an agreement in tenant
cases. _I really like advocating for the tenants because some landlords have the tenants
living in terrible conditions while they’re pocketing the rent. Also, note taking is essential
for every discussion had with clients and opposing counsel.

Week of _April 2, 2018____________

Responsibilities__I drafted an authorization to release escrowed funds, I took notes in
meetings with clients, and I completed many administrative duties like file management
and answering the phones._Lastly, I started my first draft of a retainer agreement.

Comments/Reflections_The office wasn’t busy this week, but I started to realize how
important the staff is to the success of the law firm. The interns do a lot of the work
considering we aren’t licensed lawyers.
Week of __April 9, 2018____________
Responsibilities___I did in-take for TOPA clients, and I went to the courthouse and re-
filed my affidavit of service since the Judge for our case said that the seal wasn’t correct.
I drafted a statement of interest for one of our clients, and I helped keep track of RSVPs
for the Partner’s birthday party.

Comments/Reflections__Judges that are biased towards certain laws make it harder for
the cases to reach agreement. They look for reasons to continue the trial.

Week of __April 16, 2018________________

Responsibilities_I started to draft an operating agreement, and I prepared files for trial by
organizing them and making sure they followed the table of contents.

Comments/Reflection___It pays to be in charge – the partners and associates don’t come
to the office until 12/1 but the interns and my supervisor are at work as soon as it
