CHARACTERIZATION STUDY OF ALUMINIUM

6061/B 4 C METAL MATRIX COMPOSITE


Synopsis
Metal matrix composite (MMC) focuses primarily on improved specific strength, high
temperature and wear resistance application. From the collected literature it was found that,
metal matrix composites were under serious consideration as potential candidate materials
and it is mainly used to replace automotive and space applications. The aluminium matrix can
be strengthened by reinforcing with hard ceramic particles like SiC, Al2O3 and B4C etc. Metal
Matrix Composites (MMC) are the advanced and new age materials that find application in
