Welcome to SAI Education Institute.  We hope that


you enjoy your studies with us. SAI Education Institute
is a boutique education provider focusing on the
field of Aged care, Home Care and Disability Care.
 
We strongly engage with our local industry while
exploring national and international trends to achieve academic excellence and
exceptional high calibre of graduates with the desired social an d professional
skills.  Based in Frankston, our organisation is operated by two directors, myself
and Upali DeSilva. We've have had a professional lifetime of nursing experience
and in the Aged Care & Disability Industry and look forward to sharing our
knowlege with you. 

As a Registered Training Organisation with the Victorian Registrations and


Qualification authority (VRQA) we offer nationally r ecognised qualifications
guided by the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).  Upon successful

This course will prepare you for employment in Residential Aged Care, Home and Community Care or
Disability Support. You’ll learn how to follow an individualised plan to provide person-centred support for
individuals, look after their health and wellbeing and work with their families.

You’ll also learn about the job role, industry and workplace reporting practices and how to work safely with
equipment and facilities to become an effective carer.

Career Pathways
• Studying our qualification may assist you gaining employment within the Aged Care, Home and Community and
Disabilities service sectors.
• You may find yourself working in multiple environments such as Residential Aged Care homes, Supported residential
services, working in the community, even assisting with client transport.
• With an introduction to Aged care and Home and Community Care you may wish to undertake further study upon
completion of your course with the  Disability Specialisation and then Certificate IV in Ageing Support  or Certificate IV
in Disabilities

About the Course
Entry Requirements
You will need to be 18 years and complete a pre-training review to ensure that you have the level of Language,
Literacy and Numeracy to successfully complete the program.

Other Requirements
You will need to undertake a police check (name check) prior to work placement.  
If you have any concerns about obtaining a police check, please discuss this at your pre-training review.
Students should have access to a computer and the internet – However, We do have onsite computer facilities for
students
Students should be fit for the requirements of the job which includes some lifting and manu al handling

Work placement
To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 120 hours of work placement (about 4
week full time or 8 week part-time) and be assessed in the workplace.
SAI Education Institute will assist you with placement in an accredited aged care facility and in Home and
Community Care.  
You can commence your work placement after week 12 in the program and you will be allocated a trainer and
assessor who can assess you at the workplace.  That means it if you start placement at week 12, part time you will
have a great opportunity to put what you are learning into practice in the workplace.

Student Support
SAI offers study groups to assist you with your course work for 3 hours 1 day per week.  You are welcome to come
for assistance with your course work at any time, or attend every session for support.

Classroom Based, self-directed learning.Classroom Based, self-directed learning.

Assessment
Written Questions and Simulated Workplace Observation Assessment.
You will also be assessed in the workplace by a SAI assessor while you are on work placement.

Location
411 Nepean Highway Frankston In the heart of Frankston CBD.
Approximately 2 mins walk to the beach, public transport, shopping centre, banks, gyms and cafes

Course Duration
 27 weeks.  If work placement is undertaken after face to face study is finished this can increase the course length

Study Pathways
 ( including RPL and CT) All students will be offered Skills Recognition at their pre-training review.  National
Recognition of held competencies and Recognition of Prior Learning are available depending on your
circumstances.
