Last March 27, 2018, I incurred a shortage amounting to P10,000.

I may say, despite exercising due


diligence and experience in my work, It is really a day-to-day challenge for me not to make mistake,
given that I am a solo teller in the branch with voluminous cash transactions.

I noticed my shortage right away after my mid day cash balancing. I begun to call the attention of my
officer and asked if we can request for CCTV review. I reviewed and checked my transactions made in
the morning until I narrowed-down to a particular transaction. I called immediately the client to whom I
suspected with to verify my shortage. Unfortunately, I did not get the answer right away because
according to him, he was already on the way to Cavite, and the cash he got from me was left in his office
and it will be difficult for him to confirm my question not until he got back tomorrow morning. Then it
was the following day the client returned to the branch with the P10,000 cash and the shortage was
immediately reversed.

I was very thankful to our client for giving back the P10000 cash. It was indeed a hard lesson for me
having a shortage of P10,000, and as for me, I promise to exert not only diligence but an extraordinary
diligence in performing my job, being a solo teller.
