Course Description: This semester long course is designed to introduce students

to basic Web design skills by hand-coding valid XHTML and CSS commands.
Objectives will include:

 Creating a Web Page

 Working with Colors and Graphics
 Adding Images and Hypertext links to a Web Page
 Designing a Web Page with Tables
 Working with Cascading Style Sheets
 Validating Pages
 Embedding Videos into Web Pages
 Creating Web Page Forms

Grading Policy: Regardless of whether an absence is excused or unexcused, students

are required to make up all coursework and assessments missed during an absence.
Immediately upon returning to class, it is the student’s responsibility to obtain missed
coursework and schedule missed assessments. Students will have the number of days
absent plus one additional day to make up any work without penalty. Assignments and
directions may be found on eCampus. All assignments with the exception of tests may be
completed as homework or during tutorial. Tests that students were informed of prior to
their absence must be made up by the 2nd day of the student’s return. Grades are
calculated using a total point grading system.

Homework/Parent-teacher Communication: eCampus may be accessed at school

or from home for important information and assignments. E-mail, phone calls, Skyward or
eCampus will be used for communication. Your e-mail or phone calls will generally be
returned within 24 hours. Parents are encouraged to sign up for the Family Access by
Skyward system and eCampus which are secure Internet based websites. These sites allow
parents and students to easily keep track of grades, missing assignments, attendance, and
other important information. Periodically, I will e-mail student’s grades if an e-mail address
is provided in Skyward. If no e-mail address is provided, I will send home a paper copy of
the grade report with your child.

Tutorial: Any student needing to make up work or requiring extra help must make
advanced arrangements with me to come in at 8:45 in the morning. I am not available in
the afternoon.
Rules/Expectations/Consequences:
 Enter classroom silently and begin warm-up activity. Be in your seat before
the tardy bell rings.
 Do not talk unless you are helping another student or permission is given to
talk.
 Do not use profanity. Be respectful.
 No gum, drink or food (no eating or drinking in class.)
 Treat school property responsibly. Do not change ANY computer or monitor
settings.
 Keep your hands to yourself and your own computer station.
 Stay on task.
 No cell phone use unless directed for instructional purposes.
 Take responsibility and accept the consequences for your actions.

Consequences (may be given out of order):

Parent/Guardian will be contacted as necessary.
 1st Offense - Verbal warning and/or phone call home
 2nd Offense - Lunch Detention
 3rd Offense - 2 Lunch Detentions
 4th Offense – Referral to Discipline Office

 Something to take notes in (notebook, composition book or folder with
lined paper)

 Headsets are provided, however, if students would like to bring their own
personal headset/earbuds they are encouraged to do so.
