아침
아침부터 비가 왔어요. It’s been raining since morning. -부터 = from, since
비 = rain
오다 = to come
아침부터 왜 짜증내세요? It’s still morning, why are you getting so 부터 = from, since
왜 = why, how come
mad at me (so early in the day)?
짜증내다 = to get mad at someone, to show one’s anger
Day 2
사다
사다 놓다 to buy something and keep it for later use 놓다 = to put down, to leave

-(으)면 = if + S + V
이거 사면 하나 더 드려요. free.
하나 = one (native Korean number)
더 = more
드리다 = to give (honorific)
Day 3
노래
노래를 하다 to sing 하다 = to do
노래를 하다 = to sing
어떤 노래 듣고 싶어요? What kind of song do you want to listen to? 어떤 = what kind of, which
듣다 = to listen to, to hear
-고 싶다 = to want to + V
노래를 잘해서 반했어요. I fell in love with them because they are 잘하다 = to be good at something
-아/어/여서 = since, because
good at singing.
반하다 = to fall in love
지금 나오는 노래 제목이 What is the title of the song that is playing 지금 = now
나오다 = to come out; to be aired on the radio, to be
뭐예요? now?

뭐 = what
뭐 is 무엇 in the original form, but people often just use 뭐
for ease of pronunciation.
힘들 때 이 노래가 위로가 This song comforted me when I was feeling 힘들다 = to have a hard time, to be tough
-(으)ㄹ 때 = while, when

이 = this
위로 = consolation
위로가 되다 = to comfort, to soothe

듣다 = to listen, to hear
-아/어/여 보다 = to try V-ing
기분이 좋아서 나도 모르게 Since I was in a good mood, I started hum- 기분 = mood, feeling
좋다 = to be good
노래를 흥얼거렸어요. ming without even noticing.
-아/어/여 서 = since, because
나도 모르게 = without realizing, without meaning to
노래를 흥얼거리다 = to hum
Day 4
찾다
찾다가 포기했어요. I gave up searching. -다가 = while doing something, after doing something
포기하다 = to give up
도저히 못 찾겠어요. No matter how hard I look, I can’t find it. 도저히 = now matter how hard one tries, no matter what
못 = can’t
앞으로 한 달 동안 저 찾지 From now on, don’t look for me for one 앞으로 = from now on
한 달 = one month
마세요. month.
동안 = for, during
저 = I (polite)
-지 마세요. = Don’t + V. (polite)
잃어버린 열쇠를 베개 I found the key that I had lost under the 잃어버리다 = to lose
열쇠 = key
밑에서 찾았어요. pillow.
베개 = pillow
밑 = under, below
-에서 = from
한참을 헤매다가 드디어 I wandered about for a while until I finally 한참 = for a long time
헤매다 = to wander
길을 찾았어요. found my way.
드디어 = finally, at last
길 = way, street, road
연필은 찾았는데 지우개를 I found my pencil, but I still can’t find my 연필 = pencil
-는데 = but
못 찾겠어요. eraser.
지우개 = eraser
못 = can’t
-겠- = suffix for assumption
이 단어를 사전에서 찾아 I looked for this word in the dictionary, but 이 = this

봤는데 없어요. it is not there.

-아/어/여 보다 = to try V-ing
-는데 = but
없다 = to not have, to not be there
잃어버린 줄 알았던 반지를 The ring that I thought I had lost was in 잃어버리다 = to lose
-(으)ㄴ 줄 알다 = to think that + S + V
서랍 안에서 찾았어요. the drawer.
-아/어/여ㅆ 던 + N = N + that + S + V (past tense)
반지 = ring
서랍 = drawer
안 = in, inside
에서 = from, at
Day 5
학교
학교 다녀왔습니다. I’m home. (from school) 다녀오다 = to go to a place and come back
고등학교 때는 숙제가 정말 Back in high school, there was a lot of 고등학교 = high school
때 = time
많았어요. homework to do.
숙제 = homework
정말 = really
많다 = to be a lot
저희 학교에는 외국인 There are a lot of foreign students studying 저희 = our, my (polite)
외국인 = foreigner
유학생이 많아요. abroad in my school.
유학생 = international student, student studying abroad
많다 = to be a lot
졸업하고 나니 학교로 Now that I’ve graduated from school, I 졸업하다 = to graduate
-고 나니 = now that + S + V-ed
돌아가고 싶어요. want to go back to school.
돌아가다 = to come back, to go back
-고 싶다 = to want to + V
학교가 끝나면 항상 I always played soccer in the play ground 끝나다 = to end
-(으)면 = when, if, once
운동장에서 축구를 했어요. after school.
항상 = always
운동장 = play ground, schoolyard
축구 = soccer
축구를 하다 = to play soccer
Day 6
후회하다
후회할 필요 없어요. You don’t need to regret it. -(으)ㄹ 필요 없다 = to not need to, to not have to
후회 안 할 자신 있어요? Are you sure you are not going to regret it? 안 = not
하다 = to do
자신 = confidence
자신 있다 = to be confident
한 번도 후회한 적 없어요. I have never regretted. 한 번도 - 없다 = not even once, not even one time
-(으)ㄴ 적 없다 = to have never done something
후회할 말은 하지 마세요. Don’t say something you would regret later 말 = talk, language, word
-지 마세요 = Don’t + V. (polite)
on.
후회할 행동은 하지 마세요. Don’t do something you would regret later 행동 = behavior
-지 마세요 = Don’t + V. (polite)
on.
계속 그러면 후회할 거예요. If you keep acting like that, you would 계속 = continuously
그러다 = to act like that, to behave like that

-(으)ㄹ 것이다 = will, to be going to + V
최선을 다했으니 후회는 Since I did my best, I don’t regret it. 최선을 다하다 = to do one’s best

없어요. 없다 = to not have, to not be there
나중에 후회하지 말고 If you don’t come with me, you would 나중에 = later
-지 말고 = don’t + V + and
같이 가요. regret later.
같이 = with, together
가다 = to go
-아/어/여/요 = let’s + V
이제 와서 후회해 봐야 소용 There is no use in regretting it now. 이제 와서 = now, now that things have happened like this
-아/어/여 봐야 소용 없다 = there is no use in V-ing
없어요.
공부를 더 열심히 했어야 I should have studied harder in school, but 공부 = studying
더 = more
했는데 후회 돼요. I didn’t, so I regret it.
열심히 = hard, dilligently (adverb)
-아/어/여ㅆ어야 했다 = should have done something
-는데 = but
어젯밤에 술을 너무 많이 I regret drinking too much last night. 어젯밤 = last night
술 = alcohol, liquor
마신 게 후회가 돼요. 너무 = too much, excessively
많다 = to be a lot
많이 is the adverb form of 많다.
마시다 = to drink
후회할 때는 후회하더라도 Even though I might regret it, I would like -(으)ㄹ 때는 -더라도 = even though I might + V + later
한 번 = one time, once
한 번 해 보고 싶어요. to try it at least once.
하다 = to do
-아/어/여 보다 = to try V-ing
-고 싶다 = to want to + V
둘 중에 어떤 걸 선택하든 No matter what I choose, you will regret. 둘 = two (native Korean number)
중에 = among, between, out of
후회를 하게 될 거예요. 어떤 걸 = anything (object)
어떤 걸 is 어떤 것을 in the original form, but people often
just use 어떤 걸 for ease of pronunciation.
선택하다 = to choose
-든 = regardless of whether you + V + or ...
-게 될 것이다 = will, to be going to + V
Day 7
선물
이거 선물로 줄 거니까 Since this is a present for someone, please 이거 = this, this thing
-(으)로 = as, for
포장해 주세요. wrap it.
주다 = to give
-(으)ㄹ 것이다 = will, to be going to + V
-(으)니까 = since, because
포장 = packing
포장하다 = to wrap
이번에 여행 가면 선물 꼭 When you go on a trip this time, please buy 이번에 = this time
여행 = trip, travel
사다 주세요. something for me.
가다 = to go
꼭 = for sure, definitely
사다 주다 = to buy something for someone and bring it
-(으)세요 = imperative (polite)
선물이 마음에 안 들면 You can change this gift if you don’t like it. 마음 = mind
마음에 들다 = to like, to likeable
교환할 수 있어요. 안 = not
-(으)면 = if + S + V
교환하다 = to exchange, to change
-(으)ㄹ 수 있다 = to be able to + V
선물을 고르는 데에 시간을 I spent too much time choosing a gift. 고르다 = to choose
-는 데에 시간을 쓰다 = to spend time in V-ing
너무 많이 썼어요. 시간 = time
너무 = too much, excessively
많다 = to be a lot
많이 is the adverb form of 많다.
쓰다 = to spend, to use
