4. Rationale for the inclusion of the course/module in the programme

Understanding human behavior is critical in the field of business today since business organizations
are dealing directly with the human personnel as well as the end customers / users. Therefore the
subject will provide insight on human behavior at three level of analysis – individual, group and
organizational. This will give a comprehensive understanding on all the necessary elements of
human behavior in organization.

9. Learning outcomes:
At the end of the course, students will be able to:

1. understand the basis and theories of human behavior at individual level (PLO1)
2. relate human behavior at individual, group and organizational level and how this behaviour
influence organizational performance (PLO1)
3. apply the theories of human behavior into the real life management of an organization through
case analysis (PLO6)

10. Transferable Skills:

Through lecture and tutorials in classroom, presentation, role play : interpersonal skills such as
communication skills and leadership skills, building effective team work through social and team
skills, researching relevant topics using scientific skills, etc.

11. Teaching-learning and assessment strategy
Lecture: 2 hours per week for 14 weeks

Tutorial: 1 hour per week for 14 weeks

Blended Learning: smart 2 UMS

Case Study Assignment: Case Study assignment will be assigned to students by group (10
pax/group). The submission shall be submitted within the prescribed time for evaluation.

Tutorial Assignment: Assignments will be distributed weekly for the students to answer during
tutorial classes.

Midterm Examination: Assessment based on selected topics from course syllabus.

Final Examination: One final examination will be administered at the end of the semester.

12. Synopsis:

This course will expose students to the human behavior in organizations. Organizational behavior is
closely linked to human behavior, whether at individual, group or organizational level. The main
goal of this course is to enable students (future managers) to understand organizational behavior
and enable them to increase productivity, reduce negative effects on work and directly increase
motivation and job satisfaction in an organization.
