Career Summary
Eight years of continually increasing responsibilities and knowledge in the ceramic field as an artist, industry
manager, department manager and studio technician. Working in large industrial organizations, universities,
small business and self-employment. Solving problems as diverse as continental art shipment, studio budgeting,
website building, chemical and material tests, corporate communications, art sales and artist liaison.
Experience
Mission Clay Art and Industry-General Manager + Material testing June 2017-Present
Coordinated dozens of artist residencies - Duties include transportation, lodging, photography, multi-party
communications, materials, event organization, collector tours and project budget. Main artist assistant – Duties
include one-on-one physical work with artist to help bring their project to life, problem solving, kiln and material
scheduling, art shipment as well as studio maintenance. Material Testing- Responsible for in-depth, mulit-leveled
testing of all new clay batches as well as formulation and testing of new clay bodies. Tests include MOR,
permeability, absorption, shrink, pug extrusion, ball milling and chemical analysis.
Head Studio Technician for ASU ceramic department Sep 2014-May 2018
In charge of all non-class activates, including all kiln loading, firing and unloading (electric, gas and salt/soda),
formulation and production of all studio glazes, ordering and maintaining all studio materials and ensuring a
clean, safe and welcoming environment. I worked closely with professors and administration to meet any and
all needs of the classes, department and university. Acted as studio monitor for all open studio hours, assisting
students with projects, glazing, throwing, hand building, kiln firing and fixing all studio equipment. Assisted in
many cross discipline exercises within undergraduate and graduate program.
Education
I have many skills useful in todays digital world, I’ve also completed ASU’s Computer Literacy and Mobil Tech
class in which I was able to hone my technology skills in a number of different forms including: Webpage
design, photo and video editing, graphic design, social media, Google Drive programs, infographic
production, screencasting, blogging, PowerPoint presentations and digital story telling.
After High School I spent 4 years working as a professional musician, working with many different and diverse
groups of creators, promoters and event organizers. I play a number of instruments and have self recorded two
full-length albums.
During Middle School and High School I was a national level fencer. Honing my skills of self-motivation and
perseverance and earning a spot in the top 8 of the USFA Junior Epee standings as well as winning the Arizona
Open Epee Championship in 2006, earning my A rating.
I have had some success in my art career; I am currently represented by Zen Mountain Gallery in Jerome,
Arizona and also show in various galleries around the southwest.
