1.3 Scheduling
This procedure may be implemented at the nearest convenience of station maintenance
personnel, after an HD PowerBoost activation code has been received from Nautel.
NOTE
Nautel recommends that customers intending to license and activate HD PowerBoost also
upgrade the corresponding transmitter software to version 4.x. Upgrading the software will
negate the need to reference IS11002, as HD PowerBoost is user configured within the
transmitter “Presets” menu featured in the 4.x version. This presets configuration is not available
in earlier versions of the transmitter software.
NOTE
It is recommended that customers confirm that an HD PowerBoost activation code has been
received from Nautel prior to undertaking the licensing procedure.
(a) Record the HD PowerBoost activation code that was received from Nautel and the
corresponding exciter serial number for possible future reference.
(b) Connect the PC or laptop via serial cable to the exciter CONSOLE port.
(c) Open the terminal emulation program (e.g., Tera Term or PuTTY) and configure the
serial settings as depicted in Figure 1-1.
NOTE
Terminal Emulation programs typically are free, open source software that is generally
available for download at tech media websites such as cnet.com or softpedia.com.
NOTE
In some cases “serialmenu” will not appear on screen until entered completely.

(f) Select the Licensing menu by pressing <L> from Main Menu (see Figure1-2.).
NOTE
If the option <L> does not appear on your serial main menu, the chosen exciter is not HD
PowerBoost ready.
(g) From the Licensing menu, (see Figure 1-3) view activated features by pressing <V> (see
Figure 1-4). “HD PowerBoost Operation” should not appear in the list.
(h) Enter the activation code by first pressing <A> from the Licensing Menu (see Figure 1-5).
(i) Type in the activation code that was provided by Nautel and press <Enter>. HD
PowerBoost is now licensed and activated.
(j) Verify that HD PowerBoost Operation is activated by pressing <V>. “HD PowerBoost
Operation” will now appear (see Figure1-6).
(k) Repeat above steps for additional exciter, if applicable. It should be noted that any
additional exciter will have a different activation code.
