Classroom Procedures

Beginning of Class
I. At the beginning of class students should be at their assigned seats, and should have out a
pencil and their class notebook.
II. Students are going to be seated in pairs, the classroom environment will be focused on
cooperative learning.
III. Students are to set aside their backpacks, and should not have their phones out or any
other electronic when class starts.
IV. Students that are late will sign their name in a sheet of paper that will always be at the
classroom’s entrance.
V. Completed homework will be turn in at the beginning of class by having a student walk
around the classroom collecting the homework
VI. The objective of each lesson will be written on the board, and teacher will read it aloud to
students.

Throughout the Duration of Class


I. Students are not allowed to use any electronics if they are not being used for a lesson.
II. Unless it is an emergency, students can only go one at a time to the restroom.
III. Students are to raise their hand to ask any question during a lesson, or to ask permission to
go to the restroom.
IV. If students need a pencil, pencil sharpener, or paper, teacher will have these supplies
available to borrow. Student will have to pick them up from teacher’s desk. The paper will
be free for the student, but the pencils must be returned at the end of class.
V. Students may only talk to their partner that sits next to them, but conversation should be
during time set aside to work together on class assignments, and not when teacher is giving
instructions, or teaching a lesson.
VI. On certain occasions, students will move desks to work in larger groups of 4, but at the end
of class the seats will be position to their original place.

At the end of Class

I. Student are to turn in any assignments that they have completed throughout class by
turning them in to a large box labeled “Completed Assignments”.
II. Students will put away their class materials, and make sure they are not forgetting
anything.
III. Students that borrowed pencils will returned them to the teacher.
IV. 5 minutes before the bell rings, teacher will briefly go over any homework for the day,
and remind them of upcoming events.
V. When bells rings, students will exit the classroom in an orderly manner.
Course Outline
I. Objectives for the day will be discussed with students at the beginning of class and
reinforced throughout the lesson.
II. Students will be handed a syllabus at the beginning of the semester that they will have
to attach to their class notebook. This would be the way that they can know ahead of
time of upcoming quizzes or assignment deadlines.
III. Late assignments will be accepted with a 10% grade reduction penalty unless the
school’s policies state it otherwise.
IV. Students grades will be determined the following way:
 Class Participation-30%
 Homework-25%
 Quizzes-10
 Lab Reports-20%
 Final Exam-15%

Class Differentiation
I. Teacher will discuss with students with disabilities individually on what
accommodations they need to be successful in class. Teacher will maintain
communication with student throughout the school year to make sure
accommodations are being met.
II. English language learners will be partner up with a student that is fluent in both
English and the ELL student’s primary language if it’s possible.

Miscellaneous
I. If there is an assembly, students will walk as a group towards the assembly location in
an orderly manner.
II. During a fire drill or lock down, teacher will follow school’s procedures for these
types of situations.
III. Field trips would require parent permission, and teacher will obtain proper
authorization from school. Students are expected to follow instructions from teacher,
and respect school’s policies.
