Task Analysis

Task analysis can be defined as the process by which the teacher identifies the steps that

students must follow in order to complete the assignment. The significance of using task

analysis in the classroom is that the goals are more easily acquired and the students are more

likely to recall material at a later date. Sequences or tasks are followed and practiced making

complex goals more attainable and directions clearer.

Each group will consist of students of varying abilities (the information is available

because students of the class was assessed by the teacher using a VARK test and

student profile created.

2. The students will elect a group leader, a representative from each group will draw a

number from a basket to decide the order in which each group will present.

illustrating the functions of central government. This explanation will be given orally

and in writing with the use of an instruction sheet.

categories to be assessed will include: coverage of the topic (10 marks), use of

graphics (5 marks), organization (5 marks), layout and design (5 marks) and audibility

(5 marks). The rubric will be explained ensuring that each student (group) knows

what is expected of them when designing and presenting their poster.

coloured bubble cut-outs of a pre-determined dimension, instruction sheets for each

member of the group giving step by step directions which will to be used to design the

poster and a handout.

government. Five minutes will be given for students to brainstorm and design the

poster.

questions that students may have.

9. The teacher will use the countdown method when the 10 second mark is reached to

ensure that each group completes their posters and are ready to present.

10. The group will be allotted five minutes each to make an oral and visual presentation

of their posters. Two members of each group will come to the front of the classroom

to present based on the number they selected previously. The students will listen by

with respect by remaining silent as each group presents.

11. The class will discuss each group’s presentation orally and the teacher will provide

oral feedback to each group and marks will be awarded based on the assigned rubric.
