MMDA Website Review

“Technical writing is the presentation of information that helps the reader solve a particular
problem. Technical communicators write, design, and/or edit proposals, manuals, web pages, lab reports,
newsletters, and many other kinds of professional documents.” (Jerz, 2000)

Technical writing includes 8 elements. These are Honesty, Clarity, Accuracy, Comprehensiveness,
Accessibility, Conciseness, Professional Appearance, and Correctness.

With these, we will be evaluating the website of the Metro Manila Development Authority if it
does show the elements of technical writing.

First off regarding honesty, I can say that most of the information provided in the website is true
and helpful to the reader. However at least one concept of the information provided is misleading. The
website shows a logo of the Philippine Transparency Seal,
 But when I clicked some links it
shows that it is forbidden to see,
and some documents are
deleted. I think it defeats the
purpose of putting an image of
the Philippine Transparency
Seal wherein some links can’t be
accessed by common people
like me.

When it comes to clarity, the topic or meaning of the documents in the website are clear and well
supported by detailed information. When writing their news articles, they never fail to put supporting
details like quoting some lines from speeches.
The website also shows accuracy since all the facts in the website are valid.

The contents of the website are clear. It provides sufficient details on the concept, including
background information, so that all categories of readers can understand the meaning/purpose of its
contents.

The website is made of different helpful sections. The various parts of the website are accessible
to its target audience. The target viewers can easily find what they want because there are different
sub-sections that can help them. Their website also shows their twitter account’s helpful tweets which
aids drivers in knowing when and why a certain road is congested.
 The website also shows correctness, it adheres to the convections of grammar, punctuation,
spelling, mechanics, and usage.
For conciseness, the website contains no unnecessary phrases, unnecessary long words, and uses
economical grammatical forms.
I can say that the website of MMDA is simple, well-constructed, neat, and looks professional.
