Section 2: Brief Description of Organization

Mission Statement: The Department of Leadership and Counseling provides top-quality

educational experiences for a student population composed primarily of adult learners
who are employed on a full-time basis in their respective fields.

The department runs both leadership and counseling programs. The educational
leadership program prepares leaders for K-12 schools as well as higher education
institutions. The counseling program prepares school counselors. For this project, I am
specifically focusing on the Ph.D. in Educational Leadership. This specific program
prepares students with the knowledge and skills to rise to the highest levels of
administration. Graduates with a Ph.D. in educational leadership can transition into top
jobs in roles such as principal, assistant principal, superintendent, student affairs
administrator, district administrator, etc. The part of the department I will be working
with is students who have already obtained their bachelor’s degree and most of them will
also have master’s degree. I will be reaching the clientele mainly through online
communication.

This organization is looking to develop a marketing plan for the Ph.D. in Educational
Leadership program. This includes completing a “market” analysis, program feature
analysis, and the development of strategies for targeting potential students. This will
require the development of social media strategies appropriate for the target audience
with the usage of program data.
