grado menor.
THE MAGISTERIUM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH
The Magisterium of the Church is the expression which Catholic Church refers to the
purpose and authority that the Pope and Bishops have of teaching.
The Catholic Church bases all its teachings on Tradition and Sacred Scripture. The
Catholic Church teaches that Jesus Christ is the source of Divine Revelation.
2. The universal Ordinary Magisterium is exercised by the Pope, fie the bishops who
are in communion with him in their respective dioceses and also by the councils, which
does not involve unequivocal decisions. Subsequent decisions of the Magisterium
could alter or contradict its previous content.
The obligation of the Catholic faithful is to believe and defend all the sacred
ecclesiastical magisterium teaches, and also what the ordinary magisterium teaches,
but to a lesser degree.
