The 2018 Miami Marlins: INFIELD

Miguel Rojas SS(.250

BA, 3HR, 7 RBI’s)

essentially Martin Prado

v2.0. I mean what a
professional this 29 year
old SS has turned out to
be. He has watched so
many teammates,
coaches, owners, radio
announcers come & go
thru that clubhouse who
have been with him thru
the younger years in his
major league career to
present day embraced
his role as a veteran to a
young team.

Leading by example, and
playing with heart, hustling
hard. The Venezuelan from
Los Teques’ is seizing the
opportunity as the starting
Shortstop for this marlins
club that’s banged up with
injuries. Demonstrating
time & time again he can
contribute to this team.
Not only on defense but
offense as well. He’s
been clutch delivering
delivering a walk off and
Manning the 2 hole in
the order for The fish. His
versatility (1B,MiF,3B) on the field playing
defense has been a huge plus for Don Mattingly and
the Marlins in the last coming into 2018 Miggy has showed he can
not only play all over the diamond and play stellar Defense.

Credit Perry hill “defensive guru” for Rojas high

defensive knowledge of field. He’s been all ears, bought
in to the techniques preached by Perry Hill and
implementing them in he field. J.T Riddle has been of
shelf (DL) with a prolonged shoulder injury.

Rojas must continue to demonstrate his overall game

its his job to lose and is showing a little bit of pop in
his bat (3 HR, 7 RBI) after hitting for average last year
at .290. It may be early but Rojas has to be a candidate for the
marlins in the all star game this year. If Riddle where to come back with a
vengeance and rakes it, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Rojas contribute in the OF at
some point as
well on this
team this
season. Right
now he is to
valuable of a
piece. An
intriguing
piece at that’

My early
Allstar pick.
Miguel Rojas

J.T. Realmuto - Catcher (.385 3 HR, 8 RBI’s)

Coming off the DL, he hit a homer for the

Marlins and seems like is getting back & into the
swing of things. Capping a 2 homer night in Los
Angeles. He is making an early case as the
second Marlins all-star to join the
summer classic.

His DL stint to start the season might eventually end up helping him in the long run;
numbers wise; and health.

Justin Bour - 1B (.244 BA, 4 HR, 13 RBI’s) - took 11 games in 2017 to hit his
first homerun of the year, in 2018
not much changed when the big
guy finally hit his first homer on his
11th game of the season too and
continues to warm up at the plate. I
think the guy waits a week and a
half to see the scouting report and
how the league is pitching him to
adjust and rake. Because some-
guys look at scouting reports at the
beginning of the season and not so
much later; HINT: same player
so many times.

Starlin Castro - 2B (.302 BA, 0 HR, 7 RBI’s)

has been consistent, starting the season
with an 8 game hitting streak. He has been
slotted in the 3 hole by mattingly due to
injuries, even though he has a .298 BA, 7
RBI’s he has yet to hit his first homer of
the year and continues to sit a 99 in his
career. Don’t expect much power
numbers from him either. At this pace
he might finish the season with 62 to
66 RBI’s and 9-12 homers. Sounds
more like a 7 hitter in any other lineup
but we know the hand dealt. Hopefully he
continues to produce and we can flip him by the
deadline.

Supposedly Castro is embracing the experience and role now but at
least he is trying right ! still handled it poorly in my opinion (being traded by yanks
to fish) I feel your upset but someone once said ‘if you got nothin good to say don’t say
nothing at all’ atleast try to keep it internal. To his credit tho he has been all baseball
regardless of the teams outcome in the standings.

Brian Mr. freakin’ Anderson - 3B (.256 BA, 1 HR, 11 RBI’s)

Young 3B who is pacing

the marlins in team RBI’s
and been someone we
can look to in Eva
situations. I remember at
the beginning of the year
Skip, put me where you I couldn’t trust any of the
see I fit best to help the
guys in this lineup b/c I
team”
didn’t know who they
really were and now with
-ALBERTO FERRIERO
 a 21 game sample I like
VIA RADIO MAMBI
what i see out of
Mr.Anderson’ (.241 BA ,
1HR, 11 RBI’s) sure that
batting average isn’t
going to win any batting
titles but driving in runs is a progress you like to
see especially out of a 24 year old. Kinda reminds
me of a young Mike Lowell with the glove, but now
that Prado is nearing a return; Mattingly has said
Anderson would play some 1B and OF as well;
Highly disagree, but understand Prado cant
cover the outfield right now. Maybe Castro gets
traded, & Prado gets a look again at 2nd but I
wouldn’t hold my breath on it. Mattingly stated
Martin is our starting 3rd baseman. Anderson
responded like a seasoned vet “Put me where
you see i fit best to help the team” Alberto
Ferriero via Radio Mambi. Regardless of the
situation Anderson is becoming a good
problem to have once Captian Pratt Returns.
