Subtopic: Base quantities and SI units / Dimensions of physical quantities

At the end of this lesson, student should be able to;

1) list base quantities and their SI units: mass (kg), length (m), time (s), current (A),
temperature (K) and quantity of matter (mol)
2) deduce units for derived quantities;
3) use dimensional analysis to determine the dimensions of derived quantities;
4) check the homogeneity of equations using dimensional analysis
5) construct empirical equations using dimensional analysis

Subtopic: Scalars and vectors / Uncertainties in measurements

At the end of this lesson, student should be able to;

Learning activity:
1) determine the sum, the scalar product and vector product of coplanar vectors
2) resolve a vector to two perpendicular components
3) calculate the uncertainty in a derived quantity (a rigorous statistical treatment is not
required)
4) write a derived quantity to an appropriate number of significant figures
