Being on the internet, is hard to have “privacy”, because information can be leaked and

hacked at any time. Privacy or confidential information that may deal with finances, other

people, and most importantly school are a few list of items that can be leaked or hacked at any

time. A study was made, a card game, to help others acknowledge and make more careful

decisions while on the internet especially with your personal information. The card game was

basically a social political intervention – “as an alternative means of expressing issues of online

privacy and consent”. The card game was the resolution of allowing others to acknowledge

online privacy, and that having online privacy is not impossible.

Pre-school children creating and communicating with digital technologies in the home

A study was explored in the homes of those with various use of technology- computers,

television, toys, and phones. The study gave data on how the growth in domestic digital

technologies have affected our children’s lives. There has been debates around the world

discussing children losing the normality of paper based literacies due to only using technology

based literacy. However, that may not always be the case, if you use a television or computer for

example, just as a distraction from you then it could impact your child negatively. On the other

hand, television shows/movies could be a leadway for the child to follow up on the books and

educational toys corresponding to the television show. The issue within this article was

educational and continuous growth development, which isn’t slowed down by technology.

Another example in the study could be the child picking up a phone and not speaking words but

babbling as if having a conversation with another. The child exhibits action from someone else,

indicating the child progressing with the use of technology. A possible solution to this issue

could be considering how to incorporate the use of technology for the development of children

other than watching others.

The digital divide across the nation has become a huge issue. It degrades other countries

that may not have the same teaching opportunities which also slows down the learning process of

children. The digital divide doesn’t represent equality thus not allowing each child to have the

same learning opportunities against those across the world. Solving this issue is by digital equity

and intercultural education. The goal of digital equity and intercultural education is to promote

opportunity of learning for everyone. Digital equity allows the opportunity of everyone to have

use of “computers and the Internet, as well as the knowledge and skills to use these resources to

enhance their personal lives” & Intercultural education are “opportunities to widespread

phenomenon in education and training dealing with the relations between persons of different

cultures and nationalities”. Both intercultural education and digital equity are steps to eliminate

inequality and non-useful teaching strategies and hopefully develop new strategies for students’

globally.

Ethical and Legal Implications on the Use of Technology in Counselling

Bryanne Harris, Rachel Birnbaum

Clinical Social Work Journal

DOI 10.1007/s10615-014-0515-0

Throughout the passing decades another way of practitioners counseling with clients is by

communicating online. The issue relies when the client initially has transportation issues or isn’t

able to access technology for their sessions. Following issues include, not being able to visually

see non-verbal behavioral cues, technological challenges, online security issues and a risk of

miscommunication between client and counsellor. However, online counseling is beneficial to

countless clients for their own reasons, and the mental state of the clients is what comes first and

is most important. They have begun to implement another process to check on the mental health

of a patient by also doing face to face sessions and keeping track of formal appearances. Legal

tech issues is also applied in the article, due to confidentiality and security of the patient’s

information. At times hackers could hack the practitioner’s technology gaining information on

their patients. To prevent hacking, the practitioners have to keep up with their technology with

constant upgrades within their system.
