Brief Description of Tech Tool:

This tool is a game that allows students to graph a system of equations and then defend their land. It
incorporates budgeting, critical thinking, and geometry as well.

Technical & Cost considerations:

This game is free and only requires each player to have a device that connects to the internet.

Evaluation
1. Learning Activity Types
LA-Practice: students are practicing their ability to graph a system of equations.
LA-Apply: Students are applying their critical thinking skills as well as geometry knowledge and
budgeting skills to defend their land.

2. What mathematics is being learned?

Standards:
CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.HSA.REI.C.5
CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.HSA.REI.C.6
CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.HSA.REI.C.7

Proficiency Strands:
 Conceptual Understanding – Students are gaining a better understanding of graphing a system
of equations.

3. How is the mathematics represented?

The mathematics is represented in a game. Students are working with systems of equations so the math is
represented visually in a graph and symbolically in the equation.

4. What role does technology play?

Advantages:
 Resource is free
 Good practice of graphing systems
 Engaging
Disadvantages:
 No extra practice or assessments with the tech tool

Affordances of Technology:
 Computing and Automating: The computer creates the game and shows the graphs.
 Representing Ideas and Thinking: Students are graphing different systems of equations.

5. How does the technology fit or interact with the social context of learning?
Students can work individually in this game. Students can play against their classmates in a game.
