ON-THE-JOB TRAINING

1
INTRODUCTION

Significance of Practicum/Job Training

On-The-Job Training program is the part of the curriculum wherein the students are train on

their field of work, to prepare them in the real world. These gives the students better understanding

on how the real world turns around. On this phase of a student life an open-mind is a must, things in

the real world of work are different from the environment of the school, people are busier, and every

work requires more attention and precision it should be detailed, and the presentation must be

eloquent to the spectators. These are only basics, there is a lot more to be learned during the training.

Based on my observation the core of On-the-Job training is to prepare the students to the reality they

about to enter.

On-the-Job training is a vital experience for the graduating students, it will help the student

to grow professionally, a better understanding on what it is like to work in the future and the kind of

environment you need to blend in soon. This training will give students a forestate on how to act

around your colleagues, and how to deal with the work-related challenges that will occur during soon.

The training allows the student to learn, to make mistake, to understand your mistake and

to develop your professional skills. These things can be learned during the training the live interaction

between trainees and the trainer is a big help to know the student strength and weaknesses. The

training creates a work environment that treat each student to actual employee supervised by the

one in-charge. It different environment from the school there is no assignment to be passed, just

study harder for the future use. There is a lot of group project which is helpful because in real world

being able to do an efficient job in teams is a good skill, and the good thing is there is team who will

assist you if you need help.

2
Nevertheless, On-the-Job training enhances your competence in a manner that the harder

the task given the better you become there is no room for procrastination every second, minute, hour

and day is important, it is a continuous learning and development.

Objectives of Practicum Training

 To be exposed in a professional environment to improve the individual character set and

skills to fit in to the global demands in the IT Industry.

 To broaden the knowledge and skills acquired in college and to use it effectively.

 Established a comfortable working environment to communicate well during team project

to deliver the project eloquently.

Tuesday use during the entire 486 hours of training. Which is the Agile
Methodology, what it is and its principles, its benefits, how we are
going to use it in our advantage, the role that must be taken to
properly manage how each will work then assigned us to our
groups. He also mentioned that this training we are going to
develop three different things to be an effective full-stack
developer it is the Skills, Communication and Values these three
will be the corner stone of our training and as trainees of Spring
Valley.

After the orientation on the first day, Sir Cosgayon lectured us

about the scrum and how the scrum works. There are 7 roles in
the Scrum and these are the following:

To test what we learned in about the lecture he told us to think of
a website and assigned the roles to take over each task. I was
assigned to be the product owner. The product owner’s job is to
introduce the product to the customer he or she will I do the
persuasion for the whole team, also the project owner will be the
one approving the assigned task to each member of the team if

7
the task given met the standards of the given in the first phase in
developing the product then it is approved.

my landing page.

hour of my training. Sir Cosgayon told us that this is not the end,
that after the training we still work for improvement and that he is
always there if we have questions. I had a great time learning in
Spring Valley.

17
PROBLEM ENCOUNTERED

Problem is a part of our everyday life, it will always occur even you least expect it. It will

always challenge you but as you overcome it, you made yourself a lot stronger than before, better

than the previous version of yourself. I was having second thoughts before, that if I choose option a

and start my training in a non-IT related company what would I learn in the end would this training

be beneficial to me in the long run. Then option b grabs the opportunity in a IT related company and

challenge myself to be better, but I am afraid to disappoint my supervisor if I failed.

At the end of the day I choose to be brave and face everything that will come in my way to

improvement, I am determined to improve myself to fit in the IT Industry, but it does not end here my

laptop is behaving so bad I was sad that I cannot follow the demonstration and the installation of

software needed. So, the supervisor told me that I will just observe for the mean time I am taking

notes every meeting so that, I could review it and apply it when my laptop is fix.

Then team project has begun since my laptop has been already fixed, I was behind my team.

They are starting to develop the website while I am still on the installation process, another problem

occurred there was some error on my laptop during the installation and that time I am one of the

front-end developer, so I really need a laptop. Good thing one of my fellow trainee lend me his laptop

so that I could start doing my task. I was so relieved at that time. As I worked on my task I

underestimated the time I needed to finish my task that affects the burndown chart. I learned my

lesson that time that no matter how easy the task looks never underestimate it. Assess first your

skills before you assume, because it will reflect on what kind of person you are, if you needed help

never hesitate to ask. Teams work as one, there should be a good relationship among the members

to create a healthy work environment.

18
OBSERVATION, CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

Being a trainee in Spring Valley taught me three (3) different things, that are essential to

become a successful individual. I have earned knowledge in programming, values in life and a good

communication training all given and taught in the OJT program in Spring Valley.

Therefore, I conclude that Spring Valley is a competent company to train students. The

workplace is similar in the real job environment. The strategies on how they train the trainees are all

effective. Trainees who wanted to learn beyond the lessons taught in the classroom, students who

are not afraid of committing mistakes and brave enough to face challenges are all welcome to Spring

Valley.

Spring Valley trains every trainee with great care and respect. The supervisors are hands

on, they asked each of us if there are any problems that we wanted to consult regarding the

methodologies and topics being taught. They taught us to do our best in every project we made also,

they taught us the values a good individual should possess. Through Spring Valley, we met different

successful personalities in line with the IT Industry. To listen to them talk about what they are doing

in their companies motivates us to work harder. I learned that your failures are a stepping stones to

improve yourself.

I Dianne T. Dime a former trainee of Spring Valley highly recommends the company to the

future OJT trainees to be a part of Spring Valley OJT program. To experience what we have

experienced and to learn what we have learned. It is the best place to experience real-job situations

and to build teamwork. A good working environment that will motivate you to become a good

developer and to be part of tech world.
