Reflection Meeting Agenda

Objectives:
Teachers will be able to hear at least 2 other examples of what others did in class to re-teach a sub-
skill.
Teachers will be able to collaborate with other teachers on results-oriented instruction.

Agenda:
1. 5 minutes: Overview of Reflection Meeting
a. Purpose
b. Agenda
c. Protocol Introduction
2. 5 minutes: Independent Reflection: Silently fill out template.
3. 1 minute: Teams Decide on Roles – 3-4 people per group
a. Time keeper
b. Facilitator – keep focus
c. Process Observer…to pay attention to whether or not everyone stuck to the protocol,
and any ways to improve the process for next time.
4. 45 minutes: Reflection Protocol
5. 5 minutes: Process Exit Slip

Reflection Protocol
Together, your teams have 45 minutes to share plans, results, and student work (if applicable). Each
teacher has 11 minutes (if four people) or 15 minutes (if three people). It’s important to stick to the
protocol so that all voices are heard for the same amount of time…even if the timer goes off mid-
sentence!

Teacher Presents (5 minutes each)


Below are guiding questions for presenters:
o What skill did you re-teach? Be as specific as possible about the skill.
o Who were you targeting in re-teaching? Whole class? Tutoring?
o When did you re-teach it?
o What percentage of students understand the skill now (based on re-assessment) compared to
before re-teaching
o How did you re-assess? Show student evidence of mastery/non-mastery.

Team Asks Clarifying Questions (1-3 minutes)


These questions should be factual in nature, and elicit short answers.

Team Discussion (5 - 7 minutes)


Team discusses what was presented, and can use the following questions to guide the discussion:
o To what extent did it address the core concept?
o To what extent did it break it into clear discrete steps?
o To what extent did it provide adequate opportunity for student practice?
o Was it at the same level of rigor as the IA questions?
o How do you know for sure that the students mastered this sub-skill
o If the intervention did work for all students, what specific actions yielded the best results?

Time for Process (5 minutes)


o Process observer says what went well, and what could be better for next time.
o Based on this data cycle overall, what went well for me? For my team? (fill in template)
o Collect Process Exit Slip
