INTRODUCTION

1.1 OBJECTIVES

Digital Technologies which include Cloud Computing has emerged as catalysts for
rapid economic growth and citizen empowerment across the globe. Digital
technologies are being increasingly used by us in everyday lives from retail stores to
government offices. They help us to connect with each other and also to share
information on issues and concerns faced by us. In some cases they also enable
resolution of those issues in near real time.

The objective of the Digital India Group is to come out with innovative ideas and
practical solutions to realise Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a
digital India. Prime Minister Modi envisions transforming our nation and creating
opportunities for all citizens by harnessing digital technologies. His vision is to
empower every citizen with access to digital services, knowledge and information.
This Group will come up with policies and best practices from around the world to
make this vision of a digital India a reality.

1.2 METHODOLOGY
The purpose of project methodology is to allow for controlling the entire management
process through effective decision making and problem solving, while ensuring the
success of specific processes, approaches, techniques, methods and technologies.
Typically, a methodology provides a skeleton for describing every step in depth, so
that a project manager will know what to do in order to deliver and implement the
work according to the schedule, budget and client specification.
Referring to the mentioned definition, an appropriately chosen project management
methodology paves the way for gaining the following achievements:
 The needs of stakeholders are defined

 A common “language” is established and understood by the team, so they

know what’s expected of them

 Cost estimates are complete, accurate and credible

 Every task is done using a common methodological approach

 Most conflicts are spotted and resolved early

 Expected deliverables are produced and handed over

 Lessons are learned and solutions are quickly implemented

Methodology In PM Framework:

Project management (the acronym “PM”) provides the framework of planning, doing
and delivering projects of any kind, size, nature and type. PM framework focuses on
the realization of desired change in line with a chosen methodological approach.
Actually, change is the core aspect that should be managed. PM framework
identifies and defines how to best manage change. And methodology serves as the
“way” to systematically realize change in terms of time, cost and quality.
Managing projects means describing and performing the activities required to meet
the specific objectives of making change. For example, writing a book is a kind of
project in which the objective is to write a book. This objective can be fulfilled by a
series of activities, including defining the topic, collecting material, creating a draft,
typing, proofreading, others. So in terms of project management, the author needs to
define and then complete all the necessary activities in order to write a book (which
means make change).
PM framework is a structured collection of all relevant knowledge on how to make
change methodologically. It doesn’t describe an exact algorithm of how to manage a
specific project but it provides a broad overview of various and different methods,
rules, processes and standards. In this regard, project management methodology
can be defined as a level of PM framework.

Here’s a simplified example of how a project methodology can be presented in the

management hierarchical structure:

PM Framework precedes Methodology which in turn precedes Lifecycle Stages and

determines the project management Processes, Tasks and Activities

Methodology Types

In project management there are a variety of approaches and methods that can be
employed in managing different kinds of project. All the types of project methodology
can be conditionally divided into traditional and modern approaches.

Traditional Approach:

A traditional approach involves a series of consecutive stages in the project

management process. It is a step-by-step sequence to design, develop and deliver a
product or service. It entails achieving the succession in the implementation process
and provides the benefits of milestone-based planning and team building. In IT and
software development, this methodology type is called “Waterfall” – one portion of
work follows after another in linear sequence.
The following stages are included the traditional project management methodology:
 Initiation (requirements specification)

 Planning and design

 Execution (construction and coding)

 Control and integration

 Validation (testing and debugging)

 Closure (installation and maintenance)

Modern Approaches:
Modern methodologies do not focus on linear processes but they provide an
alternative look at project management. Some of the methods are best for IT and
software development, while others can be implemented in production, process
improvement, product engineering, and so on. Modern PM Approaches use different
models of the management process.

1.3 WORKING PRINCIPLE

Problems that are facing by the users while using the current Digital Documentation
system.

The current system of the university doesn’t allow users to login from different
campuses.

1. As it is not available online every student calls up to find out if the FILES is
available or not. - Too many calls to answer

2. Every time a student calls for a FILES you have to check the racks for the
availability of the FILES. - Too much of physical work.

3. If some one reserves the FILES, he’s not sure if he definitely can get the FILES as
the previous student may not return in time.

4. Either the student has to call or come to the Digital Documentation to reserve the
FILES, but cannot reserve online over the internet.

5. Fines have to be calculated manually.

6. Students have no idea to check their account.

1.4 TECHNOLOGY USED

The on-line Digital Documentation Management System should manage different
types of Digital Documentation resources such as FILESs, Magazines, News
Papers, CD/DVDs, and any other resources which the management feels in the
future could form a resource. A resource can be categorized to facilitate searching,
sorting and managing the resources. This can be exemplified by dividing the FILESs
as being in IT or Business category. Students and University Staff can borrow
resources from the Digital Documentation. There need not be a stipulated return
date for the borrowed resource depending upon the individual to whom the resource
has been lent to. If a stipulated return date has been specified and the resource is
not returned within this stipulated due date, a fine may be imposed on the resource
user. The basic fine amount should be updatable by the management if a need to do
so arises in the future. The System should also allow for a provision to block a
resource, where by an individual can borrow the blocked resource once it is returned
by the current borrower.

2. Location of Work

The client for this project is the Digital Documentation which is inside and outside the
campus.

3. Period of Performance

The duration of the project is 3 months. All the tasks are equally distributed among
team members to accomplish the goal of completing the project.

4. Deliverables Schedule

Deliverable Date Due

5. Applicable Standards:

The project “Digital Documentation Management System” follows various

programming standards.

6. Acceptance Criteria:

The acceptance criteria for the users are

 The website has to communicate with the database.

 Users can easily search the FILES with in less time

 maintaining the account details of the user.

 Users can block the FILES, view the FILES through online etc.

7. Additional Requirements:

Qualified team members are very important for project. Team members have to have
a basic knowledge in the following areas:

 A sound knowledge in programming languages such as PHP, Java and

dot net and a knowledge of databases such as MySQL, MYSQL or
Access.

1.5 LITERATURE SURVEY

System Analysis is a detailed study of the various operations performed by a system

and their relationships within and outside of the system. Here the key question is-

what all problems exist in the present system what must be done to solve the

problem Analysis begins when a user or manager begins a study of the program

using existing system. In our existing system all the transaction of books are done

manually, So taking more time for a transaction like borrowing a book or returning a

book and also for searching of members and books. Another major disadvantage is

that to preparing the list of books borrowed and the available books in the Digital

Locker will take more time, currently it is doing as a one day process for verifying all

records. So after conducting the feasibility study we decided to make the manual Digital

Locker management system to be computerized.

CHAPTER 4
TESTING
This software explains Test cases for Digital Locker management
system. Software testing is a critical element of software quality assurance
and represents the ultimate review of specification, design and coding.
Testing presents an interesting of a system using various test data.
Preparation of the test data plays a vital role in the system testing. After
preparation the test data, the system under study is tested those test data.
Errors were found and corrected by using the following testing steps and
corrections are recorded for future references. Thus, series of testing is
performed on the system before it is already for implementation.
The development of software systems involves a series of production
activities where opportunities for injection of human errors are enormous.
Errors may begin to occur at the very inception of the process where the
objectives may be erroneously or imperfectly specified as well as in later
design and development stages. Because of human in ability to perform and
communicate with perfection, software development is followed by assurance
activities.

Quality assurance is the review of software products and related

documentation for completeness, correctness, reliability and maintainability.
And of course it includes assurances that the system meets the specification
and the requirements for its intended use and performance. The various levels
of quality assurance are described in the following sub sections.

4.1 SYSTEM TESTING

Software testing is a critical element of software quality assurance and
represents the ultimate review of specifications, design and coding. The
testing phase involves the testing of system using various test data;
Preparation of test data plays a vital role in the system testing. After
preparation the test data, the system under study is tested.

Those test data, errors were found and corrected by following testing steps
and corrections are recorded for future references. Thus a series testing is
performed on the system before it is ready for implementation.

The various types of testing on the system are:

 Unit testing

 Integrated testing
 Validation testing

 Output testing

 User acceptance testing

4.2 UNIT TESTING

Unit testing focuses on verification effort on the smallest unit of software
design module. Using the unit test plans. Prepared in the design phase of the
system as a guide, important control paths are tested to uncover errors within
the boundary of the modules. The interfaces of each of the modules under
consideration are also tested. Boundary conditions were checked. All
independent paths were exercised to ensure that all statements in the module
are executed at least once and all error-handling paths were tested. Each unit
was thoroughly tested to check if it might fall in any possible situation. This
testing was carried out during the programming itself. At the end of this
testing phase, each unit was found to be working satisfactorily, as regarded to
the expected out from the module.

4.3 INTEGRATION TESTING

Data can be across an interface one module can have an adverse effect on
another’s sub function, when combined may not produce the desired major
function; global data structures can present problems. Integration testing is a
symmetric technique for constructing tests to uncover errors associated with
the interface. All modules are combined in this testing step. Then the entire
program was tested as a whole.

4.4 VALIDATION TESTING

At the culmination of integration testing, software is completely assembled
as a package. Interfacing errors have been uncovered and corrected and final
series of software test-validation testing begins. Validation testing can be
defined in many ways, but a simple definition is that validation succeeds when
the software functions in manner that is reasonably expected by the
consumer. Software validation is achieved through a series of black box tests
that demonstrate conformity with requirement. After validation test has been
conducted, one of two conditions exists.

 The function or performance characteristics confirm to specification that

are accepted.

 A validation from specification is uncovered and a deficiency created.

Deviation or errors discovered at this step in this project is corrected prior to

completion of the project with the help of user by negotiating to establish a
method for resolving deficiencies. Thus the proposed system under
consideration has been tested by using validation testing and found to be
working satisfactorily.

4.5 OUTPUT TESTING

After performing the validation testing, the next step is output testing of the
proposed system, since a system is useful if it does not produce the required
output in the specific format required by them tests the output generator
displayed on the system under consideration. Here the output is considered in
two ways: – one is onscreen and the other is printed format. The output format
on the screen is found to be correct as the format was designed in the system
design phase according to the user needs. As far as hardcopies are
considered it goes in terms with the user requirement. Hence output testing
does not result any correction in the system.

CHAPTER 6
6.1 APPLICATION:

Digital Locker is a key initiative under Digital India, the Indian Government’s flagship

program aimed at transforming India into a digitally empowered society and

knowledge economy. Digital Locker ties into Digital India’s visions areas of providing

citizens a shareable private space on a public cloud and making all documents /

certificates available on this cloud. Targeted at the idea of paperless governance,

Digital Locker is a platform for issuance and verification of documents & certificates

in a digital way, thus eliminating the use of physical documents. Indian citizens who

sign up for a Digital Locker account get a dedicated cloud storage space that is

linked to their Aadhaar (UIDAI) number. Organizations that are registered with Digital

Locker can push electronic copies of documents and certificates (e.g. driving license,

Voter ID, School certificates) directly into citizen’s lockers. Citizens can also upload

scanned copies of their legacy documents in their accounts. These legacy

documents can be electronically signed using the eSign facility.

The platform has the following benefits:

 Citizens can access their digital documents anytime, anywhere and share it

online. This is convenient and time saving.

 It reduces the administrative overhead of Government departments by

minimizing the use of paper.

 Digital Locker makes it easier to validate the authenticity of documents as

they are issued directly by the registered issuers.

 Self-uploaded documents can be digitally signed using the eSign facility

(which is similar to the process of self-attestation).

6.2 LIMITATION:
Forgetful?: You may be the one to forget your keys now and then, and it can be

easy to forget you password code for the lock and when your in a rush to get into the

room or building or it is night time and dark, you don’t want to be changing the code

in the middle of the night or when it’s raining!

– Keep the password code safe and the lock clean: Only tell the code to people

who you trust, as you don’t want a code to your property to be local news. When the

lock has been used a few too many times, the coating may start to come away or

mucky fingerprints may start to occur on the buttons. Keep the lock maintained and

clean to stop unwanted people finding out the code!

– Power Failure: Some digital door locks are powered by electricity, if your house or

building has a power failure, then the door lock will not work which restricts you from

entering the building. Buying a mechanical or battery powered lock will not affect you

if there is a power failure.

6.3 FUTURE ENHANCEMENT:

Digital Locker, as the name suggests, is the Digital Locker launched by the

Department of Electronics & Information Technology (DietY), under the Ministry of

Communications & IT. Digital Locker is a cloud storage and is one step forward

towards dream of Digital India. Now you must be wondering, we already have cloud

storage services like Dropbox etc then why we need 1 more. The answer is very
simple, Digital Locker is a cloud service to avail Services, which can be used for

personal storage also.
