Immobilizer
These instructions apply to the Audi A4/S4/A5/S5 (8K/8T). Similar models include the Audi 2008 + Q5 (8R/FP).

It is always recommended to perform a complete Auto-Scan and save it prior to coding changes. Please see the Online Meta

Never Copy coding from a different vehicle and Paste it to your module(s)!
Prior to Adaptation Channel modifications in vehicles on this diagnostic platform it is strongly advised to save PLA
(Adaptation) Control Module Maps.
The installed control modules vary b y vendor, firmware level and equipment level, some of the noted tweaks may not b e supported
b y all control modules/vehicles.

[09] - Central Electronics / Body Control Module (BCM1 1.0)


Notes:

These vehicles use two BCM modules. BCM 1 is the [09] - Central Electronics which is responsible for most of the lighting in
the front of the vehicle and sub-system controls including wiper activity.
BCM 2 is the [46] - Comfort System module AND it has a virtual address address word [05] - Acc/Start Auth. (J393) (aka
KESSY). BCM 2 controls most of the rear body lighting and conventional comfort operations such as windows and door locks.
The KESSY itself is the immobilizer, and does not have a sense of humor - in other words don't mess with him.

Lighting
Modifications are found in found in two locations:

[Adaptation -10 ]
Choose the desired operation from the drop-down list -or- type the channel number into the box and [Read] the stored
value. If a channel reports Error, Security Access required refer to the pop-up balloon in VCDS after selecting [Security
Access - 16].
[Coding - 07] > Long Coding Helper .
Click on each of the Bytes and Bits for the documented options and check or un-check the appropriate boxes as shown in
the example below:

Click on each of the Byte numbers in row 3) and you'll see the selectable options below. Check or Un-check the boxes for the
desired results. Example: Daytime Running Lights via DRL LEDs active

Close the Long Coding Helper by clicking the Windows X box on the top right of the screen or clicking the Exit button on the top left
of the screen to send your altered Coding value back to the Coding screen.

Winking LED DR Daytime Running Lights inactive with Turn Signal On

Found in Coding, Long Coding Helper. "Daytime Running Lights inactive with Turn Signal ("Winking") active"
Turn Signal Dimming Will modify the LED intensity when the headlights are on.

Found in Adaptation.

Wiper
Automatic Rear Window Wiping with Reverse Gear

Found in Adaptation.
Tear Drop Wiping for Front Wiper inactive
Found in Coding, Long Coding Helper.
Headlight Washer Activation Time

Coming Home/Leaving Home


Options are primarily found in [Coding - 07] > Long Coding Helper . Some [Adaptation -10 ] Channels may be available after
enabling coding options.

Are both found in Coding, Long Coding Helper.


Custom settings are also available in the long coding. Some examples include; Coming/Leaving-Home adjustable via
MMI/Car Menu, with Low Beam, Fog Lights, etc.

[17] - Instrument Cluster
Gauge Test/Needle Sweep or Staging. The gauge needles should sweep from default to max upon starting the car.
This is may Not b e supported on all instrument clusters.

Seat Belt Light/Chime

Found in Coding, Long Coding helper.


Lap Timer

Found in Coding, Long Coding helper.


Service Interval Reset

Use The [SRI Reset] feature in VCDS. Do not attempt to tweak individual adaptation channels unless you were instructed to
do so by us -or- you really know what you are doing.

[46] - Comfort System (BCM2 2.0)


Notes: The notes from BCM1 1.0 above apply.

Door Locking
Auto-Lock Locking at 15 kph/10 mph Auto-Lock active is found in [Coding - 07] > Long Coding Helper .

After the Coding is enabled additional key personalization options must be configured!
The MMI may have new menus which will operate based on user selections -and- the key that is used during the
modifications.
See the MMI > Car > Central Locking menus for available options.
Alternatively, Adaptation Channels 001, 002, 003, 004 contain personalization settings for each key.
The stored value is a sum of several options. Use the information in the pop-up balloon and add the desired
features to generate the new adaptation value. +00004 = Auto-Lock (Locking at 15 kph/10 mph) is very common.

Auto-UnLock Unlocking with Key Removal Auto-Unlock is found in [Coding - 07] > Long Coding Helper .

Windows
Windows up via remote Comfort Operation (via Remote Control)

Comfort Operation: Remote Control active found in [Coding - 07] > Long Coding Helper .
After the Coding is enabled additional key personalization options must be configured!
The MMI may have new menus which will operate based on user selections -and- the key that is used during the
modifications.
MMI > Car > Windows > Front Windows, Rear Windows, and Sunroof options may be available.
Alternatively, Adaptation Channels 001, 002, 003, 004 contain personalization settings.
The stored value is a sum of several options. Use the information in the pop-up balloon and add the desired
features to generate the new adaptation value.
Note: Adaptation channels 061 and 062 may have additional "Comfort Operation" for opening and closing functions. If comfort
opening -or- closing is not working verify those options are not disabled.

[77] - Telephone
Notes: MMI 3G vehicles do NOT use a diagnostic capable #77 control module. If you are working on a 2010 or newer M.Y. Vehicle

Notes: MMI 2G vehicles do NOT use a diagnostic capable #5F control module. If you are working on a 2009 or older M.Y. Vehicle
see Address: 77-Telephone (above) instead!

Voice Control
Voice Control is deactivated in the US market on Convertible models. If the installed 5F controller happens to support this function,
you should find this function within [Coding - 07] > Long Coding Helper .

Registered VCDS users encountering difficulty Retrofitting or Tweaking can to join and post in the Retrofits -or Tweaks
section of our forum . Post the Auto-Scan prior to any modifications in addition to the Auto-Scan after modifications when
assistance is needed.
