Introduction
Have you ever noticed how some plants and animals are really similar, but also have
some different characteristic? These organisms have different characteristics and
adaptation to help them better survive in the environment that they live in. This
explains why giraffes have such long necks and why Darwin’s finches have different
beaks. Why do you think these organisms characteristics change depending on their

The Task
Today you will be exploring organisms that have adapted to better survive in their
environment. You will study these organisms and the environment that they live in.
Then you will create a poster describing the organism and what adaptations that it
has made to better survive in its environment.

The Process
To accomplish the task, you will get into groups of 3-4 and research the organism
given. You will find out how and why this organism has adapted to better survive.
You will also be creating a poster and then sharing it to the class.

1. Get into groups of 3-4

2. Once you've been assigned an organism read through notes and research
what kind of environment it lives in
3. Once you have gathered your research, as a group create a poster with your
findings. This should include where the organisms lives and it living
conditions, in what ways they have adapted, and how it helps them better
survive.

4. While presenting, each student must speak about the topic.

Conclusion
I hope you enjoyed your quest on learning about how organisms have evolved to
better survive in their environment. Next time you are outside, take a look around
and see if you can find characteristics to help plants and animals better survive

Evaluation
Describe to the learners how their performance will be evaluated. Specify whether
there will be a common grade for group work vs. individual grades.
