Objective 1:

The children will develop an understanding of scientific vocabulary by identifying body parts and placing each
body part on a flannel board human outline.

Objective 2:

The children will investigate and gain knowledge of the number of bones in a foot by counting 26 tooth picks.

IV. Materials Needed:

 Flannel Board
 Paper bod parts and Velcro. (Head, eyes, ears, nose, mouth, neck, chest, waist, legs, feet, arms, hands,
hair)
 Jar
 Toothpicks (26)
 Board
 Marker (1)
 “Here Are My Ears”

V. Directions / Steps / Process [Parts A, B C]:

A. Motivation
I will ask the children how many bones do they think we have in one foot.
I will write down the possible answers.
The children and I will then count the toothpicks in the jar.

B. Steps

1) The children will assist me by singing “Here Are My Ears” song.


2) I will introduce the flannel board and the human body parts that will be placed on the flannel board
(head, ears, eyes, nose, mouth, neck, chest, legs, feet, arms, hands, hair)
3) I will ask the children questions based on the activity:
a) “Raise your hand if you can tell me a body part you see?”
b) “Can some friends come up and put a body part where it belongs?”
4) I will ask the children to point out a body part and explain one thing they use it for.
a) “I can use my hands to hold a book. What can you use your hands for?”
b) “I can use my arms to climb to stretch and reach things that are high. What can you use your arms
for?”
c) “I can use my feet to walk. What can you sue your feet for?”
d) “I can use my eyes to watch the classroom. What can you sue your eyes for?”
e) “I use my mouth to sing. What do you use your mouth for?”
f) “I can use my ears to listen to music. What can you use your ears for?”
g) “Can we name other parts that I missed?”
h) “What can we use those body parts for?”

5) I will ask the children to place the body parts on the flannel board in its correct place.
6) The children will be place the body parts on the board and state what they are.

C. Conclusion and Transition


Conclusion
The children will assist me with singing “Here are my ears”

Transition

The fine line of the song is “Here are my feet for walking”. I will select children by the color of their shoe color
to return to their seats.
