UNIT/CHAPTER OBJECTIVE/GENERALIZATION/BIG IDEA:


This lesson plan is part of a unit that will describe the correlation between living a healthy life and
nutrition.
. Students will conduct research and use digital methods to collect and examine information. This lesson
will cover learning while using technology.
LESSON OBJECTIVE:
1. The students will elaborate on the correlation and effects of nutrition and how it directly impacts a
healthy lifestyle.
2. The Student will state their objective
3. Given the proper tools, the student will explain how nutrition and a healthy lifestyle go hand in hand by
making a Prezi.
STANDARDS ADDRESSED:
● Tennessee ISTE Standard 3: Research and Information Fluency: Students apply digital tools to gather,
evaluate, and use information
● Locate, organize, analyze, synthesize, and ethically use information from a variety of sources and media
● Evaluate and select information, sources, and digital tools based on the appropriate specific tasks.

State/District, Common Core Standards:

● Standard 5: The student will understand the relationship of nutrition to healthy living.

MATERIALS:
1. Computer
2. Microsoft Word
3. Internet access to:
a. Prezi
b. https://www.nutrition.gov/
c. http://health.mo.gov/living/wellness/nutrition/nutritionphysicalactivity/
d. http://www.cdc.gov/HealthyLiving/

BACKGROUND and RATIONALE:


● The main idea of this lesson is for students to learn how nutrition and a healthy lifestyle correlate.
● Students will use the technology and make a Prezi.
● Students will point out why the connection linking nutrition and healthy living is essential.

PROCEDURES AND TIMELINE:


1. Introduction: In the beginning, each student will be assigned a computer so that they can conduct
research for their assignment
2. Give students direct and indirect examples as to why eating healthy and living a healthy lifestyle is
important.

Teacher Procedures:
1. Send students to their assigned computers or laptops.
2. Have students open up a word document and the internet
3. Send students to the websites mentioned above
4. Assist students that need help.

Student Procedures:
1. Go to your assigned computer
2. Open a word document and open the internet
3. Visit the websites given
4. Make an outline in your word document about how nutrition goes with a healthy lifestyle
5. Go to Prezi,com, create an account, and start completing a prezi on the topic.
6. Save your Prezi once it has been completed
7. Print out your outline so that you can turn it in to the teacher.
8. Have your prezi ready to present to the class.

3. Closure: Students will present their Prezi. Their Prezi should explain how nutrition can positively
impact a healthy lifestyle.

ASSESSMENT EVIDENCE:
Students will be assessed on the information gathered, their Prezi, and their knowledge of the
information they researched
 I have provided a link on how a finished prezi should look. This should help the students get a general
idea of how thing should be organized and how information should be in detail.
