a. Answer the following questions:
1. What is a “straw man”?
Is when you try to give the critique through a personal anecdote or
an inspiring story of someone famous who went through the same
thing.
2. Are words like “lazy” appropriate for constructive criticism?
Explain.
No, we should Make sure not to focus on the person him or
herself, rather on what he or she did.
3. Why shouldn’t you share negative feedback when someone is
about to finish something important?
Its not the right time to do it, we should wait until he or she is
about to do it again. Then you can jump in with your critique,
keeping in mind the previous four steps, of course.

b. Answer the following questions:


1. Should you react immediately when receiving criticism?

No, You will have at least one second to stop your reaction. While
one second seems insignificant in real life, it’s ample time for your
brain to process a situation. And in that moment, you can halt a
dismissive facial expression or reactive quip and remind yourself
to stay calm.

2. Sometimes it’s OK to give the benefit of the doubt to the person


who criticizes you because it’s difficult to give feedback to another
person.

3. What does “Thank you” mean, and what does it not mean, when
responding to criticism?

It express appreciation, doesn’t have to mean you’re agreeing with
