OBJECTIVE
To obtain a contracted teaching position as a special educator in the Albemarle County Public Schools system.

EDUCATION
Masters in Teaching | University of Virginia
08/2016 – 05/2018
I will graduate from the Curry School of Education in the spring with a 4.0 GPA and a dual endorsement in Elementary Education and
Special Education.
Bachelor of Arts | University of Virginia
08/2012 – 12/2015
I graduated from the College of Arts and Sciences a semester early with a major GPA of 3.43 in history. During my time at the university, I
also worked a 30+ hour/week job to support myself and supplement my tuition.

EXPERIENCE
Multi-Area, Long-Term Substitute | Jouett Middle School
01/2018 – 06/2018
As a long-term substitute, I taught a collaborative 7th grade English class, 8th grade reading intervention classes, and 6th grade 21st century
technology skills classes. I implemented research-based, targeted reading instruction and interventions with struggling students, and
collaborated with other Language Arts teachers to create appropriate and effective curriculum pacing and instruction. I worked with 6th
grade students to increase their digital literacy as well as their digital citizenship, honing the skills they need to be successful participants in
our increasingly technology-based world.
Elementary Education Student Teacher | Brownsville Elementary
08/2017 – 12/2017
In a third-grade class, I collaborated with my mentor teacher and the rest of the third-grade team to design and implement differentiated,
problem-based curriculum pacing and instruction. I often co-taught with my mentor teacher and other teachers in the school, providing
specialized attention to students as needed. I also helped lead the team in technology integration for our students’ problem-based learning
assignments, spearheading the effort to teach our students how to use different applications (Google Slides, Tinkercad 3D design, etc.) to
enhance their learning.
Special Education Student Collaborator | Murray Elementary
01/2016 – 05/2016
While working with a special education resource teacher at Murray Elementary, I designed and taught small-group lessons for students in
fifth grade and kindergarten struggling with reading comprehension and decoding as well as writing fluency and skills. I also pushed into
general education fifth-grade classes at the school, providing math support to our students with accommodations in their IEPs. I attended
IEP meetings for these students and observed their transition planning for middle school.

VOLUNTEER WORK
English Language Skills Tutor | Literacy Volunteers of Charlottesville/Albemarle
08/2015 – 08/2017
As a volunteer with Literacy Volunteers of Charlottesville/Albemarle (LVCA), I worked with adult English Language Learners (ELLs) to
increase their receptive and expressive English language skills. I created and implemented lesson plans for these students that focused on
their needs for communication in their jobs and their lives, as well as a comprehensive foundation for understanding and using the English
language. We worked on practical skills like using/counting money, understanding the American government system, making
appointments, and other skills to help them be successful in our community.
GED Tutor | Charlottesville/Albemarle Regional Jail
08/2014 – 05/2016
As a GED tutor for our local jail, I worked with inmates who wanted to obtain their GED upon their release. I created lesson plans to teach
them the reading comprehension and math fluency skills they needed to be successful. I also worked with them to create study plans that
worked for their schedules that allowed them to practice and hone the skills I introduced in our lessons so that we could move forward in
our time together.
