2 GEOGRAPHICAL CONTRAINTS

Malaysia is known for its many exotic islands with stunning beaches, rainforest and diver
cultures. Beside that, Malaysia in 2040 has construct a high technology country. In order
to develop the local economy Malaysian’s Government has planned to develop the high
technology campus. Many facilities such as electricity, houses, road, resort, and others
have been built in Gua Musang, Kelantan. All the facilities require a large amount of
energy to provide a comfortable accommodation. We proposed to build a campus at Gua
Musang since a lot of things are build there such as MRT Train. The group has been
assigned to design the campus based on 2040 with all the technology and 20% of
renewable energy. It also must consider about the environmental, social and cultural
effect. So, the group has decided to pick a suitable spot for the location of the campus. It
will be situated at coordinate 4°52’42.6’’N 101°57’06.7”E as used in Google Maps. In
terms of geographical constraints, the group members has identified that there’s a lot of
constraints which is actually related to the scope of the renewable energy. It is very
important to consider the geographical constraints of surrounding where the campus is
located before choosing the renewable energy that is going to be used to cater the 20% of
the total power demand. One of the geographical constraints is that the weather of the
place. The weather should have sunlight for at least 3hours a day without any limitations
in order to have made the sunlight to be converted into electricity. The sunlight should be
exposed without any disruptions such as the clouds and haze. Thus, the surrounding
weather of the location where the campus is located plays an important role, as the
efficiency of the solar energy will be affected by the weather.. Furthermore, the fact that
the campus is located nearby the town this will benefit the student and also staff to
updated their grocery. It also nearby hospital and other houses that are to provided the
social behaviour. The campus must also be a sustainability and eco – friendly.
3.0 CONCEPT GENERATION AND SELECTION
In concept generations, the group members has come up with three different ideas which
can be implemented in the design of the hotel. The group has researched in and out about
the advantages and disadvantages, technical applications that can be made, improvisation
and of course taking note of the main point of being environmental friendly and being a
main way to attract the student with the technology and further their studies. The concept
selection will be more on the chosen concept generation amongst the main 3 concept
generations and there will be detailed explanation given on the selected concept
generation.

accommodation tower. The location selected at Gua Musang, Kelantan. Since the
growing of infrastructure. The are use for this campus is 22 acre.
3.2 CONCEPT GENERATION 2

In concept generation 2, there is a improvement from the design concept. We develop the design
based on the sustainability, eco friendly and also to maximize the usage of renewable energy.
There also has a tree for the green effect. This will increase the amount of oxygen level. There
have many car park and large space campus for student to make us the surrounding, The area use
for this campus is 22 acre. But there no specific calculation done yet when done the concept
generation 2.
3.3 CONCEPT GENERATION 3

In concept generation 3, there is a improvement from the design concept. We develop the design
based on the sustainability, eco friendly and also to maximize the usage of renewable energy.
There also has a tree for the green effect. The campus layout is the same layout as concept
generation 2, the only different is the position of the class, lab, library, hostel and mosque. The
area use for this campus is 22 acre. The total area use for this campus in square feet is 931,904.
