MY LIFE IN PICTURES

MARY MORGAN
“We live off culture, it feeds us, it carries us along, it makes communication possible, we
hand it on to other people, to other generations, through words, gestures and actions.
It expresses and communicates our identity and that of the people we interact with. It
is what we have in common; in fact culture is what makes the ‘we’ possible. ”

–Paul O’Callaghan
Religion as a Cultural Influence

“Yet both faith and culture involve two

inseparable elements: transmission and
content. Both are received, assimilated and
handed on from one generation to the next,
faith often transmitted as culture, and culture
on the basis of ‘faith’. And both have a content,
a vision, a doctrine, an intuition, that stands in
need of interpretation and
comprehension” (O’Callaghan, 2016).

Growing up, I was raised catholic. Religion

shaped me as a young child into an individual
who was able to believe in faith and values. I
was taught, through religion, to embody my
values regardless of judgement and cultural
differences.
Family as a Social Influence

Ever since I was a young child, family has

influenced my life in the most beneficial way.
I’ve never had a huge family, however, each
family member has someway or another,
shaped me into the woman I am today. Each
individual family member has a lot of
inspirational value to offer. I am able to learn
from knowledge and experience as well as,
offer my knowledge and experience. Growth
through my family members has allowed me
to grow as a person.
Outdoor Adventure as a Economical Influence

Outdoor adventure has always been a part of

my life since I was a young child. Growing up, I
was able to find my passion and love for the
outdoors. As a young child I learned the
importance of living organisms in the
outdoors, which made me grow to love and
respect nature at its finest. Aside from the
nature aspect of the outdoors, I am able to
gain respect for the elements that the
outdoors have to offer. I am able to enjoy all
the elements, as they allow me to self reflect
when I am among the outdoors.
Friends as a Social Influence

“ Surround yourself with people that reflect

who you want to be and how you want to
feel, energies are contagious” -Rachel Wolchin

I have always said, my friends are my family. I

cherish each and every friendship that I am
honored to share today. My friends have
allowed me to realize who I am as a human
being. Through my friends, I am able to show
my greatest personality traits. My friends
influence me on a daily basis of who I want to
be and how I want to treat others.
Education as a Cultural, Economical and Social
Influence

Education has been a major influence

throughout my entire life. I started my career
in education through Preschool, Kindergarten,
Elementary School, Middle School, High
School, Undergraduate College and now
Graduate College. Through the years, my
educators have taught me skills and behaviors
I have been able to use inside and outside the
classroom. In addition, education itself, has
allowed me to expand my critical thinking and
knowledge of social, cultural and economical
values and beliefs.
