Min. Size of top angle: L-75*75*10

Used Top Angle Size due to 1.5mm CA : L-150*150*12 27.20 kg/m

4.2 Bottom Plate Thickness (Required Stated In API 650 Para. 5.4.1)
tb = Minimum nominal thickness; 6.00 mm
C= Corrosion allowance; 2.00 mm
tB = Bottom plate thickness; 8.00 mm
Used Bottom Plate Thickness : 8.00 mm

4.3 Annular Bottom Plate Thickness (Required Stated In API 650 Para. 5.5.1)

4.3.1 Since the allowable stress used in design for Bottom shell course is in Group VI, so, butt- welded annular bottom plates shall be used.

4.3.2 Calculate the max. stress in the 1st shell course as per table 5-1a Note b, Smax

Sdmax = (td/as-constructed t exclusive of CA)*Sd 219.48 MPa

Stmax = (tt/as-constructed t)*St 211.87 MPa
Smax = greater of product or hydrostatic test stress 219.48 MPa

4.3.4 Calculate the min thickness for annular plate, tAnnular < 220.00 MPa
Since the plate thickness of first shell course is 43.50 mm
So, tAnnular = (Requirement stated in API 650, Table 5-1a) 16.00 mm
CA = Corrosion allowance; 3.00 mm
Annular bottom thickness = tA + CA 19.00 mm
Used Annular Bottom Plate Thickness : 19.00 mm

4.3.5 Calculate the Min. radial width of annular plate, Wa (para 5.5.2)
Min Annular plate-sketch plate lap 60.00 mm
wa1 = the min radial width between the inside of the shell and any lap-welded joint in the remainder of the bottom(para5.5.2) 600.00 mm
wa2 = the min radial width to project outside the shell 100.00 mm
wa3 = calculated as the fomular 215tb/(HG)^0.5 771.99 mm
Where,
tb = thickness of the annular plate 19.00 mm
H = maximum design liquid level 28.00 m
G = design specific gravity of the liquid to be stored 1.00

So, the minimum radial width at any point around the circumference 803.50 mm

D2 = Center ring diameter = 56.400 m
h1 = Rim height = 0.750 m
h2 = Height above center ring, refer to sketch = 0.195 m
h3 = Center height above deck = 0.250 m
h4 = Center height below deck = 0.150 m
h5 = Height below center ring, refer to sketch = 0.155 m
n = Quantity of compartment = 40

Volume of single compartment:

Q2 = Q1/n = 15.823 m3

When two compartments are damaged, total efective volume shall be

Q3 = Q1-2*Q2 601.288 m3

Compare roof dead load (W1) with pontoon buoyancy (W2) on 0.65 specific gravety liquid:
W1 = = 299,385 kg
W2 = 0.65*Q3*1000 = 390,837 kg
The pontoon buoyancy on 0.65 S.G. liquid meets requirement, as W2 > W1

Thus the pontoon is sufficient in size

Effective volume of the roof with no damage shall be

Q4 = PI()/4*D12*(h2+h3)+PI()/4*(D12-D22)*(h4+h5)-PI()/12*(D12+D1*D2+D2 2)*h5+PI()/4*D22*h5 = 1847.834 m3

Compare twice the dead load (W 3) with pontoon buoyancy (W4) on 0.65specific gravety liquid:
W3 = 2*W1 = 598,770 kg
W4 = 0.65*Q4*1000 = 1,201,092 kg
The pontoon buoyancy on 0.65S.G. liquid meets requirement, as W4 > W3
Thus the pontoon is sufficient in size
