Semi- Detailed Lesson Plan in Approaches to Teaching Literature

Content Standard: The learner understands the definition of a drama.


Performance Standard: The learner performs activities on the different elements of a
drama.
Learning Competencies: The learner explains the different elements of a drama.

I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
A. Identify the elements of a drama.
B. Define what are the elements of a drama.
C. Perform a role play with the different elements of a drama.

II. Subject Matter


A. Topic: Elements of a Drama
B. Reference: Wikipedia, Internet
C. Materials: PowerPoint presentation, piece of paper

B. Introduction
The teacher will post the learning competencies at the board.

I can define reading comprehension and discuss its levels.


I can tell the meaning of a text through the different levels of reading
comprehension.

C. Priming
The students will be grouped into four and will form a circle. The teacher will give
a piece of paper to the leader. This paper includes five instructions that the
students will act. The group who is able to finish faster and is able to follow the
directions shall be the winner.
D. Activity
The students shall remain on the groups they had belonged on the first activity.
The teacher will give a map and clue sheet to each leader. Prior to the class,
the teacher had hidden 4 yellow stars inside the classroom with one star for
each group. Each group must be able to find their star through the given clue
sheet. The groups will have to show the yellow star they have found to the
teacher and they shall tell where they have found it. The group that will be able to
present first will be the winner.

Group 1- I am where lots of knowledge can be found. This is the place in the classroom you
don’t usually go but I tell you I am the source of knowledge.

Group 2- I am your confidant when you are thirsty and I get cold and hot instantly.

Group 3- I make sure to keep what makes the classroom clean.

Group 4- I am where you go when your bladder seems to explode.

E. Analysis
1. Where you able to find your star through the clue sheet?
2. Did you find difficulty in understanding the clue sheet?
3. What are the issues you have encountered in performing the activity?

F. Abstraction
The teacher will help and facilitate the students identify the elements of a drama
and their definitions.

G. Application
The students will be grouped again into four. They are going to act a role play
according to the story of their choice. The students are allowed to use background
music. The play should only be a maximum of 5 minutes.

H. Assessment
There will be a short drama shown and the students will identify the elements of
a drama present.

I. Assignment
Read the drama script on pages 32-33 and answer the activity on page 34 on
your textbook.
