There are four questions in this assignment. Answer all the questions. You may use
illustrations and diagrams to enhance explanations.

Question 1(a): Explain in detail all the options/items on the Menu bar and Tool bar of Internet Explorer.

(b): Compare and contrast Internet Explorer with Netscape Navigator. (3 Marks)

Question 2: Create an Excel spreadsheet for your mark sheet of 10+2 examination. (5 Marks)

Question 3 (a): Prove that the sum of the squares of the first n integers is 1/24 (2n) (2n+1) (2n+2) (3
Marks)

(b): Explain whether for a prime p >= 5, p2 + 2 is composite or not. (3 Marks)

Question 4: a) Explain with example how charts are used in analysis. (3 Marks)

b) Explain the different types of charts available in Excel. Also explain the process of creating a chart in
Excel. (4 Marks)

Question 1(a): Explain in detail all the options/items on the Menu bar and Tool bar of Internet
Explorer. (4 Marks)

Answer :

Menu Bar Options in Internet Explorer are as follows:

File

Create Shortcut: Create a shortcut to the current web page. So, whenever we click on this shortcut, the
Internet Explorer will be automatically opened and connects to this site.

Delete: deletes a document from the local memory.

Rename: renames the document.

Properties: It has the following submenus:

History: shows the URL's of the recently browsed web pages.

Browse Offline: show web pages without fetching from the host server.

Close: closes the browser.

Edit

Cut: stores the highlighted text in the clipboard.

Copy: copies the data in the clipboard to the position of cursor.

View

Toolbar: shows or hides toolbar

Status bar: shows or hides the status bar.

Refresh: reloads the current document from the host server.

Options: enables us to change the settings of Internet Explorer.

Go

Back: loads the previous page onto the screen.

Forward: load the page, which has been viewed after the current page previously will be loaded onto the
screen.

Up one level: goes up by one level i.e. closes a window, which is open.

Home Page: opens the home page of the web sites whose URL has been set in the
configuration which will be loaded as the start page of the browser.

Search: opens and closes the search bar.

Best of the web page: opens the best site like top 100 sites.

Mail: opens the e-mail window of Microsoft Exchange of Microsoft Outlook from where we can send e-
mail.

News: opens the Internet's newsreader program. From here, we can switch onto the icon, which
represents the sites of new corporations.

Contacts: opens the address book, which is the part of Microsoft Outlook.

Calendar: opens the calendar so that we can fix our own schedules.

Tasks: lists the appointments.

Internet Call: connects to the Internet.

Favourites
It lists the bookmarks we added when we are browsing the Internet.

Tools

Find: switches on to the search sites and prompts for the search string.
sMap network drive: maps the drive to another drive.

Help
It contains the information about Internet Explorer.

Question 2: Create an Excel spreadsheet for your mark sheet of 10+2 examination. (5 Marks)

Answer : Download attached excel sheet for mark sheet and change to your name.

Question 4: a) Explain with example how charts are used in analysis. (3 Marks)

b) Explain the different types of charts available in Excel. Also explain the process of creating
a chart in Excel. (4 Marks)

Answer (b) :

Following chart types available in MS-Excel :

1. Area Chart
This shows the magnitude of change over time. It is a stacked line chart, with the area between the lines
filled with color and shading. The data series are plotted one on top of the other.

2.Bar Chart
It consists of the series of horizontal bars that allow comparison of the relative size of two or more items.

3.Column Chart
This consists of a series of vertical columns that allow comparison of the relative size of two or more
items.

4. Line Chart
Each of the data series are plotted as lines of different colour and shading.

5. Pie Chart
These are the best charts to compare the percentages of the sum the data series. It represents only one
data series.

6. Doughnut Chart
It is similar to Pie Chart but it represents more than one data series.

7. Radar Chart
This shows the data values in relation to the centre point and to each other. Data of the same data series
are connected by lines.
8. XY (Scatter) Chart
The value of the data series is plotted as the intersection point of the X-axis and Y-axis.

These charts can be created using MS-Excel chart wizard.

Following are the steps to create the chart through Chart Wizard :

1. To create a new chart, enter the data in excel cells.

2. Click on Chart Wizard tool button from Standard Toolbar. The pointer changes to crosshair shape.

3. Mark the area on the worksheet to place the chart.

4. Enter the range of data from the worksheet in the Range box and click on Next

5. Select the chart type from the charts displayed and click on Next.

6. Select the format for the selected chart and click on Next.

7. specify X-axis Label and Legend text.

8. Enter the Title for the chart, X-axis and Y-axis. Click on Finish.
