Assessment Task 1 – Group Project Proposal and

Presentation Due Date: Monday, April 9 in Week 5 at 9:00am.

Assessment
This task focuses not only on two ‘Unit Learning Outcomes (ULOs)’ of this unit but also four
‘Graduate Learning Outcomes (GLOs)’. These will be assessed through:
• (ULO1) Work as a team to investigate the needs of current IT services and justify the
benefit of adopting cloud computing technologies.
• (ULO2) communication to the peer audience on the latest applications of cloud computing
technologies.
• (GLO1) student knowledge of cloud computing issues identified with evidence from
published literature.
• (GLO2) student ability to present project design and proposal with justification to target
audience.
• (GLO4) student ability to reflect and critically analyse the information and define problems
appropriately.
• (GLO7) students’ team work skills from self and peer review.

Instructions
• As this assessment task consists of team work, form a team of 5 students. As this team is
expected to remain together to undertake the next assessment task (Task 2), please select
you team with this in mind.
• Your team leader will submit a project proposal.
• Team leader to inform Unit chair the membership of the team.
• Your team will present to the class.
• Each student will produce a reflection through “SPARK PLUS”.
• Please note that project proposal should be in pdf and presentation PowerPoint
(pptx with audio) documents are expected to be submitted via the unit site
Assignments tool (Dropbox).
• Use the IEEE referencing style to correctly cite and create a section containing references.
• It is imperative that you read the following Deakin resource regarding the IEEE referencing
style http://www.deakin.edu.au/students/study-support/referencing.
• Ensure your report properly formatted and based on Template.

Project Proposal
Your team’s project proposal should be approximately 3000 words (font size 12, table of contents),
excluding the references section. Place your names and IDs in the document containing your project
proposal.

In general, your team is required to conduct research on IT cloud computing technologies in order to
produce a project proposal (see template below) to replace a problematic IT service application with
a cloud solution. This IT service application is non-cloud based and within an IT business.

Working as a team, your team will produce a project proposal that:

• describes a non-cloud IT service application that has a problem
• describes the requirements of this non-cloud IT service application
• describes how a cloud system not only solves the problem but also meets the requirements
• is strongly based on evidence from the literature

Reflection
You must complete self and peer assessment through “SPARK PLUS”. Your group marks will be
individualized based on the outcome of “SPARK PLUS”

Presentation
Present a convincing argument to their peers in a 7-minute presentation of their project proposal
and project design with justifications.

Each student must present.
