1. FUNCTION – APPLICATIONS
The TVNVG relay is an electronic voltage-monitoring relay used on medium voltage
feeders to which are connected one or more plants, including an independent source,
fitted with protection relays without auxiliary voltage.
The TVNVG 30 relay is used to postpone the closure of the feeder circuit-breaker for
as long as the network is kept live by an independent source that has not decoupled
when an autoreclose mechanism sends a close command.
The TVNVG 31 relay is used to detect the absence of one or more voltages on an
M.V. feeder.

2. DESCRIPTION – OVERALL DIMENSIONS

The withdraw TVNVG relay is housed in a case wide enough for 2 modules.

3. TVNVG 30 RELAY
3.1 Principle
The voltage presence relaying monitors single-phase voltages on each of the three
capacitance dividers in the feeder bay. To achieve this, it contains three overvoltage
detectors. Each of these detectors is fitted with an adjustment potentiometer and a
green light to indicate its state.
Two other displays are used to select the operating threshold (0.2 or 0.6 Un) and the
voltage range (50 - 300 V or 100 – 600 V).
The “Voltage presence” information on at least one feeder phase is validated by the
“open trip switch” information given by the close/open interlock.
The device resets when the circuit-breaker closes.
The “Presence of voltage from an independent utility” information is available on an
output contact. It is also shown on the front panel by a non-memorised red indicator
light.

On standby:
If the three voltages are absent, the A relay is de-energised (N/C) and the 13-12
contact is closed.
In operation:
If at least one voltage is present, the A relay is energised (N/O) and the 13-14
contact is closed.

3.2 Settings
1. Select the voltage range (50-300V or 100-600V)
2. Select the operating threshold (0.2 Un or 0.6 Un)
3. The relay is powered by the continuous auxiliary voltage and by the 3 phase
voltages. The CLOSE/OPEN (F/O) interlock is present.
4. Turn the 3 potentiometer adjustment screws anti-clockwise.
5. Press the red “adjustment” button and keep it depressed throughout the 3
following operations:
6. Turn the first adjustment screw clockwise until the corresponding green LED
lights up (the red voltage presence LED lights up and the output contact
changes its state).
7. Follow instruction 6 for the second screw.
8. Follow instruction 6 for the third screw.
9. Release the “adjustment” button.
10. Carry out an all-or-nothing check:
3 phases absent: all LEDs are switched off
Presence of one or more phases: the red LED and corresponding green LED(s)
light up.

4. TVNVG 31 RELAY
4.1 Principle
The low voltage relay system monitors single- phase voltage on each of the three
capacitance dividers in the feeder bay. To achieve this, it contains three overvoltage
detectors. Each of these detectors is fitted with an adjustment potentiometer and a
green light to indicate its state.
Two other displays are used to select operating threshold (0.2 or 0.6 Un) and voltage
range (50 - 300 V or 100 – 600 V).
The “Voltage presence” information on the 3 feeder phases is validated by the “open
trip switch” information given by the close/open interlock.
The device shuts off when the trip switch closes.
The “Presence of voltage from an independent utility” information is available on an
output contact. It is also shown on the front panel by a non-memorised red indicator
light.
