Course: EPC 3903 – Practicum 3b
Instructor: Robin Ogdol

TP Task 3 – Planning for Learning

This task is linked to ECE3503: instructional strategies and planning for assessment. It asks you
to take on an active role in planning and preparing for active learning environments. This task
requires you to meet with your MST, and through his/her guidance, plan a weekly plan using the
school template. Evidence of implementation of this plan is also required (added to blog with a
reflection). You need 4 weekly plans for WIKS.

Planning cycle include the process of professional observation,

planning, and evaluation. Each day at [AFPS] after classes
What is the planning cycle?
over, I would sit with my both MSTs and plan for the next
lesson.

Plan a weekly plan with your MST:

1. English Lessons (Vowels)

- Start by telling a motivation story about the vowel (a, e, i, o, u).
- Asking questions about the story.
- Tell lesson objective.
- Explain more about the lesson with having activities to do with the teacher.
- Discussion about what they’re learning while doing the activities.
- The students will have independent activity.
- Lastly, the students will work on their books with a little help from the teacher.

2. Math Lessons (Addition “for this week plan”)

- Greeting and using the (Hello, etc.) song.
- Start by a short motivation for all the lessons.
- Asking questions about the short motivation.
- Telling the students the learning objectives (This week: Identify the meaning of
addition and its sign, learn how to add and share.)
- Present the lesson, give two examples of addition before givi ng the meaning of
addition.
- Let the students think what is addition before telling them the definition? How does
addition sign looks like.
- Give real examples. (Use “let’s add them! What is addition?)
- One by one (what is addition?)
- Activities with asking questions.
- Book activity.

3. Math Lessons (Equal sets)

- Greetings.
- Short activity to introduce the lesson and engage the students (classifying objects into
groups/ sets and compare if they are equal or not.)
- Learning objectives.
- Let the students guess what the lesson is about.
- Give examples and introduce equal sets to t hem.
- Give them chance to think of the definition of equal sets.
- Draw equal sets.
- Activities with asking questions.
- Book activity.

4. Math Lessons (Greater than & Less than)

- Greetings.
- Short story made up by MST, including students’ names. (Compare between the
number of objects the students has)
- Learning objectives.
- Ask the students to define “great”, “less” and “equal”.
- Exhibit the mathematical signs for greater, less, and equal.
- Made up song by MST about the signs to make it easier for the students to understand.
(She copied the baby shark dance, but instead of “baby shark do do ….” she sings
“greater than do do ….. and so on.)
- Give few examples and questions.
- Independent experience activity.
- Book activity.
Choose 1 subject and diagram the planning cycle that takes place in your school setting.

[Math]:

Step 1: Meeting with MST, planning the lesson and using students’ workbook as a resource.

Step 2: Identifying the LO’s.

 Students will be able to recognize and use numbers.

 Students will be able to identify sets/ equal sets.
 Students will be able to count to answer ‘how many’.
 Students will be able to represent and determine amounts of
objects when they are put together or taken away.
 Students will be able to compare objects/ the sets.

Step 3: List the activities, discuss how to introduce the lesson and how to end it.

Step 4: Types of questions we’re going to use during the lesson.

If I wanted to change anything while preparing the lesson, I would inform MST and wait for
her consent.
