Overall aim and context of the lesson

To introduce the students to the fruits, (apple-kiwi-banana-mango-grapes-orange).

A lesson is a give and take of information process in which both parties gain a new
piece knowledge. I was addressing the average preschool standards during this
lesson, I was also following along the theorized lines that my MST has taught along,
and added a bit more engagement that we both felt worked well regarding the
students’ attention span. This lesson is for the KG2-F students, and took place in
their classroom. The professional goal I wanted to achieve during this lesson was,
my time management. In a previous lesson the students finished the activities too

fast and I had to scaffold and create a new activity that they enjoyed. During the
lesson I was trying to introduce them to the fruits, how they look like, their color,
and word recognition (when they see the fruit name they are able to identify it). The
students listened to the introduction and were engaged by the video, then guessed the
fruits and discussed their favorite fruits. I think they responded that way because of
the familiarity of fruits, they see fruits everyday however don’t know all the fruit
names, so seeing something so familiar makes them happily engaged and
participating and it related to their prior understanding. I think I engaged them fairly
well and was able to fit the whole lesson according to the time slot making my
teaching goals and PDP successful. The nature of the experience from the students’
perspective is finally being able to name the fruits, they were overjoyed when I told
them that their activity involved coloring. These students love coloring and so I try
to always involve it in every activity they have, they are remarkable young minds
with marvelous artistic abilities that will take them places. Which is why I
remembered my lessons during my classes and implicated in my professional
practice, it is that students learning through art. Through art students are able to
express themselves, more than they ever will through a course book. If I were to
enhance the students’ learning I would take them to the farmer’s market where they
can explore all the colorful and natural fruits. We would end the trip by buying all
the fruits, and cutting them up for them to eat.
