Overall aim and context of the lesson

To introduce the new vegetables to the students and identify their names.

A lesson is giving knowledge that you have received to the less knowledgeable

other, and building on that consistently. The standards I am addressing are those of a
preschool classroom, such as my MST, I have observed her and taught according to
her standards along with some of my own ideas. The lesson is for the KG2-F
classroom, and it takes place in their classroom. During the lesson I was trying to
introduce the new vegetables to the students and identify their names. The students
were engaged by a guessing game video along with listening to the introduction and
working on the PowerPoint activities. I believe that the students responded better

than before because they recognize that I will only call out on those who are sitting
nicely, as they already know vegetables but are unable to recognize their names I
also had them sound out the names to meet the students’ prior understanding. I
believe that I could’ve done more with the engagement, the students enjoyed the
guessing game however the hype died down and they were looking for more games
and less explanation, which is needed to introduce a new topic. From the students’
perspective it is not as amusing as previous lessons as it is a new lesson, however I
added in activities on the board that seemed to add excitement along with the
vegetables video I had as backup. They had understood the lesson and I managed it
in an allotted time that was being changed so I believe I have met my teaching goals.
To enhance the students’ learning I would have a vegetable day party, where they can
dress up as vegetables and we can eat vegetables while learning. I believe that my
professional practices has taught me to always have a backup plan which is why I
was glad I did.
