Feature Objectives - eNB Class Parameter
Change

• The feature provides the additional improvements to the ability to re-

configure the eNB without impact on service.
• The key driver behind this feature is to further reduce the number of
configuration parameters that require an eNB reboot or board reset when
updated in the eNB.
• Significant reduction in the amount of parameters that need a boards
reboot or cell coverage loss on updated when compared to the capabilities
in previous releases. This include the migration of Class B to Class C
parameters
• Reduction in the amount of configuration updates that have an impact on
the eNBs ability to support traffic when compared to previous releases

Basic Approaches used by eNB Class

Impacts on eNB:

• LA4.x leftovers
• Support change from change from Class B to Class C, and corresponding
CallP-Modem interface update;
• For non-transport parameters, support relocation of Class B parameters
under per-eNB MO to the same parameters under per-cell MO;
• For Transport parameters, support change from Class B to Class C;
• Consider Class C for LA5 new parameters;
