I don't like crowds whem I'm on holiday.

I remember that when I was a small boy


we-my brothers and sisters and I -always tried to get away from other people.We
always had our holiday on the coast.Sea and sunshine, that's what we looked
forward to every summer.We always went to small fishing village on the Devon
coast.And if, when we got to the place where we usually bathed ,there were other
people there, we stopped and said."Oh, we can't bathe here today! Somebody's got
here before us!" Today people seem to like crowds.You sayyou wish to meet and
make friends with as many people as possible, so I won't suggest a quiet fishing
village

Activity 1 Warm-up
Aims:-to draw attention to the topic
Procedure
T shows Ss pictures containing a fishing village, a famous(luxurious) resort, a
crowded beach....etc,) and asks them what these images represent
T asks Ss questions like:"What kinds of places you like when going on holiday?"
"What thing is important when choosing a place?" "But what about your parents?Do
they have the same preferrence?
or/and
T asks Ss to close their eyes and think of the first image it comes through their mind
when they hear the word holiday
In this way making a link to the aim of the lesson

Activity 2 Listening
Aims-to develop the skills of listening
-to make Ss select relevant info
T asks Ss in pairs to take notes while listening to a conv between two members ofa
family arguing whether to go to Mamaia or to a quiet place(for ex Rasinari);each of
them presenting his/her own reasons
T asks Ss to sum up the conversation in a sentence/two words/a word...

Activity 3 Pre-reading
Aims-to help Ss to predict the content of the text
T divides the class into groups of three or four and gives X quatations about holiday
T asks Ss to discuss the given phrases and state their opinion

Activity 4 While-reading
Aims:-to practise reading comprehension
-to help Ss identify specific info
T directs Ss the attention to the reading text
aici poate fi- Ss skim the text quickly
-Ss read silently

T asks a S or two to retell(sum up) the text


T asks Ss to choose the answer(A,B,C,D) which they think fits best according to the
text
Activity 5 After-reading
Aims:

poate fi debate(T divides the board in two parts writing Crowded places-Quiet places
to go on holiday asks the member of each group to come and write adv and disadv-
in this case we can insert an exercise/words for Ss to use;with the inf gathered we
can start a debate
sau role -play( a conv between a travel agent and a client

Homework-an opinion essay based on one of the quatations
