1. SCOPE
This document cover the piping data sheet to be used in construction.

2. CODE AND STANDARDS

The VENDOR/SUPPLIER/CONTRACTOR shall work in accordance with the requirements specified herein
and the applicable requirements of the latest editions of the referenced Codes and Standards, unless
otherwise specified and approved by the Employer.
API Spec. 5L Specification for Line Pipe – Latest edition
API RP 5L 1 Recommended Practice for Railroad Transportation of line Pipe
API RP 5LW Recommended Practice for Transportation of Line Pipe on Barges and
Marine Vessel
API RP 5L2 Recommended Practice for Internal Coating of Line Pipe for NonCorrosive
Gas Transmission Service
API RP 5L3 Recommended Practice for Conductiong Drop-Weight-Tear Tests
ASME B31.8 Gas Transmission and Distribution Pipeline System

3. GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS OF LINE PIPE
Electric welding pipe shall be manufactured by a process of forming a seam by high frequency electric
resistance welding, wherein the edge to be welded are mechanically pressed together and the ehat for
welding is generated by the resistance to fiow of the electric current.
Seamless pipe shall be manufactured by seamless process of hot working steel to form a tubular
product without a 'welded seam. If necessary, the hot worked tubular product may be subsequently
cold finished to produce the desired shape, dimensions, and properties.
Submerged-arc welding pipe shall be manufactured by a process of producing coalescence of metal by
heating them with an arc between a bare metal consumable electrode or electrodes and the work. The
arc and molten metal are shielded by blanket of granular, fusible material on the work. Pressure is not
used, and part of the filter metal is obtained from the electrodes.
4. PIPE MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS
The Contractor shall provide the same or equivalent material specification and strength for the piping
component to be connected to free issue material.
The pipes shall be new and their internal and external walls shall be clean, free from all defects, and
without foreign matter attached.
Wherever possible, seamless pipe shall be used. Where size limitation precludes the availability of
seamless pipe, substitution of electric resistance (ERW) or double submerged arc weld (DSAW) pipe
made from plate with 100% radiography (X-Ray) will be acceptable.
Spiral welded pipes or odd lengths of butt-welded pipes are not acceptable. For casing pipes, spiral
welded pipes might be used.
The pipes shall be supplied in the single length of approximately 6 meters and in the double length of
approximately 12 meters, without intermediate welding.
Schedule STD, XS and XXS pipes shall be comply with ASME 836.10 or API 5L For nominal diameter
pipes 2" and larger, the ends shall be bevelled in accordance with ASME B16.25 or API 5L For the pipes
with threaded ends (such as galvanized piping), all threads shall comply with ASME B1.20.1.

5. PIPE MANUFACTURE
The Contractor shall apply the following criteria for the procurement of process gas Line Pipe:
a. Product Specification Level (PSL) shall PSL 2.
b. The pipe shall be manufactured in accordance with all the requirements of API Spec. 5L Latest
Edition. API Spec. 5L Latest Edition remains applicable for all points nor specifically mentioned
herein.
c. The pipe material shall be suitable for field welding suing conventional welding process Ie.: SMAW
or GTAW without preheating.
d. Welding consumable controls shall be clearly defined in the Manufacturer Pipe Standard (MPS) and
Quality Control Manual (QCM).
e. Each pipe should be manufactured according to their characteristics.
f. The Contractor shall submitinspection reports which include, but not limited to, dimensional report,
mechanical testing report, chemical report, hydrostatic report, and NDE report.
g. The contractor shall also submit the Material Certificate signed by qualified third party inspector.
h. The pipe steel shall be made by the basic oxygen processor or electric arc furnace and the steel
shall be fine grain and fully killed.
i. Hot rolled coiled skelp shall be manufactured by a Thermo Mechanically Controlled Process (TMCP)
j. All furnished pipe shall be made from steel which is to have a chemical composition ensuring proper
ductility, strength, toughness, and weld-ability under all welding processes and techniques used for
pipeline application.
