Save the Seals

Kennedy, Chloe Obert
Overview

Plastic Waste is

● Littering our oceans

● Threatening the lives of millions of

marine animals
Effect on Seals

Plastic is affecting seals by

● Suffocating seals causing death

● Tainting waters, poisoning seals

Biotic and Abiotic
Factors

Some of the abiotic factors that may

affect the seals ecosystem:
● Weather
● Water temperatures
● Global warming
Some of the biotic factors that may
affect the seals ecosystem:

● Bacteria
● Sharks
● Lack of fish
Decomposers
Heat Energy Loss

Sharks
1 (Top Carnivores)

Seals
(3rd Level Carnivorous Consumers) 2

Normal Fish
3 (2nd Level Carnivorous Consumers)

Smaller Fish
(1st Level Carnivores Consumers) 4

Zooplankton
5 (Primary Producer)

Sun’s Energy
Homeostasis

● Pollution debris is bad

for marine health
● Tainted waters reduce
amount of sunlight
require to maintain the
desired ecosystem
Human Effect

● Pacific Trash Vortex

may contain up to 1.9
million pieces of trash
per square mile
Biodiversity

● The importance of the ecosystem

depends on the amount of
predators against seals. With no
sharks to maintain the seals the
ecosystem would get out of hand
It is a privilege to go to the beach and to have fun with family or
friends or going boating on the water. However it is not a place to
leave trash and this has a huge affect on the ecosystem in the sea
and a prime example is the seals.
Solution

How to fix this problem:

● Place more trash cans on the

beach
