A LETTER FROM LEAD PASTORS KEITH & SHEILA

Dear Friend,

Welcome to the first day of your Elevated Life!!! Pastor Sheila and I are

Doing. At Elevate Life Church we believe the triad of Thinking, Being and
Doing determines what you Have in life. And God wants you to have the
very best in every area of your life – personally, professionally, relationally,
financially, etc.

In John 10:10 (MESSAGE) Jesus said, “I came so they can have real
and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of.” And we
want that for you too.

The simple steps outlined in this book will help you get there. Our goal is
to guide you to your next level by showing you how to apply these simple,
but timeless biblical principles that will strategically position you to receive
God’s blessing and favor upon your life.

church where you can grow in your faith walk and develop energy
producing relationships.

We honor and celebrate your courage for making the wisest and most
important decision one could ever make: accepting Jesus Christ as Lord
and Savior. Remember, “When you summon the courage to do what
others won’t, you will have in life what others don’t.”

What Just Happened To Me?

John 3:7 “…‘You must be born again.’”

thing in your life to be interrupted today.”

Most people have a tendency to make life more complicated than it really
is. In many ways, that same paradigm carries over from our personal life
into our spiritual life. In fact, religion has done a very good job of devising
numerous man made rules and regulations that have made reaching God
– at times - a seemingly impossible feat.

Religion paints a picture of God as an angry Judge eager to pour out His
judgment upon depraved humanity. Religion, which is often works based,
suggests that if we’re going to please God then we must be perfect at all
times and in all things.

However, Jesus came so that we could have a living, vibrant relationship

with God through faith in Him. In John 14:6 Jesus said, “I am the Way,
the Truth and the Life. No man comes to the Father except through me.”
Jesus paid the price on the cross for our sins with broken body and shed
blood. He was the Ultimate Sacrifice for the sins of all men; past, present
and future.

When we put our faith in Jesus Christ, you acknowledged three life
transforming truths:

1. You were a sinner – (Romans 3:23)

2. You could not save yourself – (Romans 6:23)
3. Only Jesus could save you by grace through faith in Him
(Ephesians 2:8-9)

As a result of trusting Christ, something glorious happened.

II Corinthians 5:17 NLT reminds us that “…anyone who belongs to
Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has
begun!” Yes, God gave you a FRESH START.

Page 8
THE ELEVATED LIFE: 7 STEPS TO YOUR NEXT LEVEL
Your Elevated Life begins by simply believing the finished work of
grace that Jesus secured with His death on the cross for the sins of all
mankind; once and for all. Through faith in Him you now have a personal
relationship with your Heavenly Father and the power to experience life on
a whole new level. It’s that simple. You are now born again into the family
of God (John 1:12).

That was your First Step. In the next 6 chapters you will discover your
Next Steps as you grow in your faith walk and journey with Christ. We are
excited that you have made this important decision to become a Christ
Follower.

Welcome to the Family!!!

Water Baptism
Come On In…The Water’s Fine

Page 11
THE ELEVATED LIFE: 7 STEPS TO YOUR NEXT LEVEL

Mark 16:16 “He who believes and is baptized will be saved…”

“When you elevate your thinking, you elevate your life.”

“Life comes in Words. Words become sentences. Our sentences become

our messages. Our messages become our experiences. Our experiences
become our life Lessons...”
- Leadershipology.com

Baptism is your first step after receiving Jesus Christ as your personal
Lord and Savior. When you are baptized you are making a public
profession of your faith in Jesus Christ.
It is an outward display of the inward reality that you are born again (John
3:3).

Below are a few frequently asked questions and answers that will help you
better understand the symbolism and significance of Water Baptism:

What is Water Baptism?

It is an outward expression of an inward reality i.e. your faith in Jesus

Christ and His lordship over your life.

Why Do I Need to Get Baptized?

In baptism you publicly identify with Christ in His death, burial and
resurrection.

Romans 6:3-6 (The Message Bible) “…That’s what baptism into the
life of Jesus means. When we are lowered into the water, it is like the
burial of Jesus; when we are raised up out of the water, it is like the
resurrection of Jesus. Each of us is raised into a light-filled world by our
Father so that we can see where we’re going in our new grace…”

Page 12
THE ELEVATED LIFE: 7 STEPS TO YOUR NEXT LEVEL
When Do You Get Baptized?

Baptism is an experience that happens subsequent to your profession of

faith in Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior. In order to be baptized,
you must first believe with your heart and then confess Him with your
mouth that Jesus is Lord (Romans 10:9-10)before you are baptized.

Acts 8:12-13: But when they believed Philip as he preached the things
concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men
and women were baptized. Then Simon himself also believed; and when
he was baptized he continued with Philip, and was amazed, seeing the
miracles and signs which were done.

Acts 8:36-38: Now as they went down the road, they came to some
water. And the eunuch said, “See, here is water. What hinders me from
being baptized?” Then Philip said, “If you believe with all your heart, you
may. “And he answered and said, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of
God” So he commanded the chariot to stand still. And both Philip and the
eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him.

Who Can Be Baptized?

Anyone who is able to account for their decision, before God and man
that they believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Personal Savior. This
includes children, but not infants.

Should Infants/Young Children Be Baptized?

No, for there is no record in the Scriptures where infants or young children
were baptized. However, there are accounts, both in the Old and New
Testaments, of infants and young children being dedicated to the Lord just
as Jesus was.

Luke 2:22: Now when the days of her purification according to the Law
of Moses were completed, they brought Him (Jesus) to Jerusalem to
present Him to the Lord. When little children were brought to Jesus He
touched them and blessed them.

Mark 10:16: “And He took them up in His arms, laid His hands on them,
and blessed them.” This is why we dedicate infants and young children;
NOT baptize them.
Page 13
THE ELEVATED LIFE: 7 STEPS TO YOUR NEXT LEVEL
How Do I Get Baptized?

The word “baptize” in Greek means “to dip, submerge or immerse”.

The Biblical model is baptism by immersion in water in the Name of the

Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Matthew 28:19:  Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy
Spirit.

Note:
Baptizing “in the name of Jesus ONLY” indicates that the person being baptized
was “closely bound to” or “became the property of” the one into whose name he
was baptized (see Acts 8:16). Therefore, Matthew 28:18-20 and Acts
8:16 do not conflict in any way, for either way we belong to God. However, at
ELC we baptize according to the Great Commission in Matthew 28:19 as
quoted above.

The Word of God
Soul Food

Page 15
THE ELEVATED LIFE: 7 STEPS TO YOUR NEXT LEVEL
Matthew 4:4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live
by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’”

“If you will Hear the Word and Do the Word you’ll find that you will Have a
Word when you most need it.”
– Leadershipology.com

Why should I read my Bible?

In the preceding verse, Jesus likens the Word of God to bread. As a

masterful communicator, Jesus is creating a beautiful word picture to
illustrate a important spiritual truth. He used a metaphor to show the
necessity of daily spiritual sustenance. Just as we might enjoy three
nutritious meals for our physical well-being, likewise we must prioritize
God’s Word’s in our lives for our spiritual nourishment and edification.

More contemporary analogies would liken the Bible to God’s instruction

manual for life, His blueprint, compass, roadmap and GPS. Everything we
need to know about life and conduct as Christ Followers is recorded in the
Bible, which is God’s Word.

I. The Bible reveals the character of God

• His Attributes – Who He is and His disposition (i.e. His

Person)
• His Ability – What He can and will do on behalf of those
who trust and obey Him
• His Agenda – His plan for all creation

II. The Bible reveals God’s will for our lives. It shows us that
God’s plan for us is to:

• Have an Elevated Life - John 10:10

• Have success in our Relationships – Psalm 112:1-8
• Have success in all our Endeavors and in our Enterprise –
Jeremiah 29:11; Deuteronomy 8:18
• Have a Healthy and Prosperous Life – III John 2;
Psalm 1:1-3

Page 16
THE ELEVATED LIFE: 7 STEPS TO YOUR NEXT LEVEL
III. The Bible provides God’s Wisdom to help us navigate life’s
challenges – James 1:2-5

IV. The Bible provides simple instructions for daily living –

Psalm 119:105

As you grow in faith and become more familiar with God’s Word, it is
important that you do the following:

• Observe it – What does the text say?

• Interpret it – What does the text mean?
• Apply it – What truths can I take from the text and
incorporate into my life today
• Communicate it – What Biblical principles can I share with
others today that have worked for me?

Where do I start?

We suggest that you begin by reading the Bible daily and a good place
to start is in the Book of Proverbs. There are 31 chapters in the Book of
Proverbs; 1 for each day. It’s a great way to learn practical principles from
God’s Word that you can apply to your life daily.

Secondly, we recommend reading the four gospels found in the New

Testament namely: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. By reading the
gospels you will discover the Person, Purpose and Power of Jesus Christ.
You will see a pattern of how Jesus loved, served, led and taught so that
you too can follow His example and re-present Him to others.

Prayer
Can You Hear Me Now?

Page 19
THE ELEVATED LIFE: 7 STEPS TO YOUR NEXT LEVEL
Jeremiah 33:3 ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great
and mighty things, which you do not know.’

“Prayer doesn’t just change things, it changes people. People who pray
develop a capacity to change and therefore become God’s Change-Agents
in the world.”
– Leadershipology.com

Prayer is simply dialog with God. What we often forgot about prayer
is that it is a two way conversation. Prayer is a time – both private
and corporate – when we bring our requests to God, but it is also an
opportunity to listen to what He speaks to us in response.
I. Prayer was something Jesus did often (Luke 6:12; Luke11:1;
Luke 22:45). It was not an option for Jesus; it was a determinant
discipline. Luke 5:16 “So he often withdrew into the wilderness
and prayed.”

II. Prayer is also something Jesus encouraged His disciples to do

often. In Luke 18:1, the Bible says, “Then He spoke a parable to
them that men always ought to pray and not lose heart.” Likewise,
Paul the Apostle also encouraged believers to pray without
ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17)

Prayer begins with a DECISION – we acknowledge its importance

and priority. Then, prayer becomes a DISCIPLINE – we do it daily.
And ultimately, prayer becomes a DELIGHT – we can’t live without
it.

The disciples acknowledged the connection between Jesus’

private devotion and public demonstrations of power. So Jesus
gave them a pattern/model for Scriptural prayer in Luke 11:
• Our Father in heaven – acknowledge your Position.
He is your Heavenly Father and you are His child.
• Hallowed be Your name – Give Praise by
acknowledging the blessings He has so lavishly
bestowed upon your life.
• Thy kingdom come.  Thy will be done on earth as it is
in heaven –Surrender to His Purpose and Plan for your
life.
• Give us this day our daily bread – Acknowledge
God’s daily Provision of everything you need as you
Page 20
THE ELEVATED LIFE: 7 STEPS TO YOUR NEXT LEVEL
serve Him.
• And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who
trespass against us – Acknowledge God’s Pardon for
every failure and mistake you will ever make and His
mercy that is unfailing.
• And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from all
evil. – Acknowledge God’s Protection over you and
your family physical, material, financial and spiritual
• For Thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory,
forever and ever, Amen. – Passionately serve Him.

III. Prayer should be authentic (Matthew 6:5-15). It is not

limited to a place or specific time of day; nor is it only
considered a prayer if the language is flowery. Don’t feel
as though your words have to be eloquent or your prayer
lengthy. God answers prayers that are heartfelt and
sincere (James 5:16).

“Prayer is an act of humility that activates our faith and moves the
heart of God” - (2 Chronicles 7:14-16)
– Leadershipology.com

IV. As we stated earlier, prayer is a two-way conversation

between the individual and God. So learn to listen
actively. We learn to listen in prayer by being still in our
thoughts and emotions long enough for God to speak (1
Samuel 3:1-10).

The more you listen for God’s voice and hear it, the more familiar
it will become and the more confident you will be that we have
received His instruction, correction or direction.

God’s direction to you will always be:

• Consistent with what He promised in His Word
(1 John 5:14-15)
• Accompanied by His peace (Philippians 4:6-7)
• Encourage, comfort and edify others
(1 Corinthians 14:3)

Authentic Community

Page 23
THE ELEVATED LIFE: 7 STEPS TO YOUR NEXT LEVEL
Acts 2:42-45 “And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine
and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. 43 Then fear
came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through
the apostles. 44 Now all who believed were together, and had all things
in common, 45 and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them
among all, as anyone had need.”

“Who you align your life with will determine your next level; up or
down.”
– Keith Craft (from Leadershipology 101)

“For you to achieve anything great you must align your life with
people who believe in you.”
- Keith Craft (from Leadershipology 101)

Your alignment determines your assignment. What that means is who you
choose to go through life with will determine what you accomplish. Your
alignments will either add value to your life or diminish your ability to lead
others. Alignment is a core values based decision. So choose wisely.

Alignment is about embracing resistance and allowing tension to be the

indicator that you are growing from where you are to where you need to
be. Align your life with a community of faith where you will be challenged
to be your best for God; where mediocrity is replaced with an excellent
spirit; where you escape average and reach for the impossible and
where God’s purpose for you life can be fulfilled along with other Christ
Followers.

So “plug in” to a local church nearby where the Word of God is taught
boldly and accurately, where Jesus is elevated, where your family can be
equipped and where you can be empowered as a leader.

As you grow personally, so will your influence, and then you will be
thoroughly equipped to empower others.

Servant Leadership
You Gotta Serve Somebody

Page 25
THE ELEVATED LIFE: 7 STEPS TO YOUR NEXT LEVEL
Philippians 2:5-8 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ
Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be
equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of
a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in
appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the
point of death, even the death of the cross.

“If you’re too big to follow, you’re too small to lead.”

- Leadershipology.com
If there was one thing in particular that characterized the earthly ministry
of Jesus, it was His love for people, which He demonstrated by serving
them. Jesus modeled the behavior He wanted us to emulate: Servant
Leadership.

In John 13, Jesus washed His disciples’ feet. Traditionally, in Jewish

culture, foot washing was a menial chore reserved for the lowest ranking
servant in a household. By washing His disciples’ feet, Jesus was seizing
a teachable moment, which He used to teach an invaluable lesson
on humility and the importance of esteeming others as valuable and
precious.

In John 13:13-14 Jesus said, “You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you
say well, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your
feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.”

Like Jesus, we too can find fulfillment of our life purpose and mission; not
by being self serving, but in serving others (Matthew 20:28).

“A Servant-Leader is someone who is called by God with others to BE

great.   They willingly come under spiritual authority with the attitude
of serving others.   They have a passion for excellence and a desire to
lead.  They choose to take the form of a slave, to be one who is swallowed
up in the will of another.   They become a living sacrifice whereby their
“sacred” life dispels all mediocrity.”

Serve God’s Kingdom By Being T-Rated

Every Christ Follower is called to be “T-Rated”. T-Rated means you’re

faithfully giving your Time, Talent and Treasure to serve others and
advance the Kingdom of God. All Christ followers, of all ages are called

Page 26
THE ELEVATED LIFE: 7 STEPS TO YOUR NEXT LEVEL
to be leaders in all places. But faithful and selfless service to others
always precedes exemplary leadership.

In order to experience the T-Rated life you must:

• Discover your gift – Look upward in prayer (Ephesians 2:10)
• Develop your gift – Look inward by developing daily disciplines (2
Timothy 1:6-7 NIV)
• Deploy your gift – Look outward by serving others
(1 Peter 4:10)

Page 27

STEP|7
Generosity
It’s Not About The Money

Page 29
THE ELEVATED LIFE: 7 STEPS TO YOUR NEXT LEVEL
Proverbs 3:9-10 “Honor the LORD with your possessions and with the
firstfruits of all your increase; so your barns will be filled with plenty, and
your vats will overflow with new wine.”

“We are most like God when we give.”

– Leadershipology.com

Generosity is defined as readiness or liberality in giving; freedom from

meanness or smallness of mind or character; largeness or fullness;
amplitude.

Generosity is synonymous to amplitude. It’s about so much more than

money!!!

The truth is God wants us to LIVE OUT LOUD! And one way we
demonstrate the disposition of our heart is what we do with what is in our
hands. Generosity begins when we acknowledge that every good thing
we have comes from God (James 1:17). It is this attitude of gratitude
that compels us to be generous toward God and others.

Secondly, Generosity is the result of recognizing that the gifts, abilities,

talents and acumen we possess all came from God for the purpose of
advancing His Kingdom in the earth. Deuteronomy 8:18 declares, “And
you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you power
to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant…”
Thirdly, Generosity is the result of understanding the irrevocable Law
of Seedtime and Harvest according to Genesis 8:22 “While the earth
remains, seedtime and harvest…shall not cease.” Since the beginning of
time, God has set in motion the law of sowing and reaping. And when we
live by this principle, God’s promise is that He will bless the work of our
hands.

Jesus promised in Matthew 6:33 that “…seek first the kingdom of God
and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.”

Page 30

HOW DO I GIVE?
First Fruits Giving

Malachi 3:10 “Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be
food in My house,  and try Me now in this,” says the LORD of hosts, “ If
I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such
blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.”

Firstfruits Giving can be traced back to the Old Testament and the Law of
First Things. In fact, we see the Law of First Things at work in the Garden
of Eden when God gave Adam and Eve stewardship over everything He
had created and then placed them in the Garden of Eden.

However, they were not allowed to touch or eat of the fruit of the tree of
the knowledge of good and evil. God had reserved that portion of what
He had created exclusively for Himself (Genesis 2:15-17).

The Law of First Things can be found throughout the Old Testament;
particularly in God’s instructions to the nation of Israel during their Exodus
from Egypt and while they inhabited Canaan. Firstfruits offerings were
established as a way for the Israelites to prove the position God held in
their lives.

They were required to devote the first and best portion of everything they
possessed – crops, livestock, silver, gold, precious stones, and even the
spoils acquired from nations the Israelites had conquered, etc – as an
offering irrevocably dedicated to God. In so doing, they gave God pre-
eminence in their lives.

Today, we honor God with our Firstfruits offering by bringing the first
10% of all our earnings. When we do so faithfully, we are acknowledging
God’s sovereignty over our lives and our resources. And his promise to
us is that He will bless and multiply everything that we set our hands to
because we have made Him FIRST in our lives (Malachi 3:8-12).
Firstfruits giving is always an issue of Lordship over Lip service
(Luke 6:46).

Page 31
THE ELEVATED LIFE: 7 STEPS TO YOUR NEXT LEVEL
Offerings

2 Corinthians 9:6-8 “But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap
sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7 So let
each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity;
for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace
abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things,
may have an abundance for every good work.

Offerings are financial gifts we bring “over and above” our Firstfruits.
Offerings can be general or designated for a specific purpose.
2 Corinthians 9:6-8 gives us a few guidelines on how to bring offerings:

• Do it generously – v6 “But this I say: He who sows sparingly will

also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap
bountifully.”
• Do it intentionally – v7a “So let each one give as he purposes in
his heart…”
• Do it cheerfully – v7b “…not grudgingly or of necessity; for God
loves a cheerful giver.”
• Do it with in faith and with expectation – v8 “And God is able
to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all
sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every
good work.”

True Biblical prosperity comes through hard work, faithful giving and right
living (3 John 2).
