1. We have created a related using the information of seismic and provinces of

Ecuador. For this is necessary to charge the corresponding layers.

2. Now we create a selection of the province assigned in this case will be

Esmeraldas.
3. Then, we go to the Selection and choose selection by location this is necessary
to show the seismic points in our selected region.
4. Open the table of attributes form seismic layer. After select the quantity of
seismics in this area and we can to create a New Field with the name of DPA
PROVIN. Change the type to Text and the length to 5.

5. In this part we need to create a Field Calculator of values to have the number of
the province studied.
6. Now we can to proceed to create the RELATED between the seismics and the
province. For this is necessary go to any layer and clic and select the part of the
relate.
7. Finally we have a related stablished we can check this in the part of the Related
Table.
What is and what is use the Related in ArcGis?

Relating tables simply defines a relationship between two tables. The associated data is
not appended to the attribute table of the layer as in the case of a join. Instead, you can
access the related data when working with the attributes of the layer. A relationship is
similar to a simple relationship class except that it can involve data from different
workspaces (for example, a table of dBase table can be related to a coverage) and is
stored in an ArcMap layer or document file. If you have already established a
relationship class for your data, you can use it as you would use a relationship in
ArcMap. Relationships can be used in the Table and Identify windows to search for data
related to the selected record or records. The following describes the behavior of
relationships when they are used in ArcMap:Relationships are bidirectional, therefore
both tables involved can use the relationship without taking into account which table
has the relationship. For example, if a relation is created in layerA for tableB, the
relation is listed below layerA, but tableB can use it to access records in layerA. When a
selection is made in a table or layer, it is not automatically applied to related tables as
with the links in ArcView GIS 3. You can use the Related Tables command Related
tables in the toolbar of the Table window to apply ("click" ) a selection in a related table
or layer. When using the related tables command described above, the related table or
layer is added to the table of contents under the active data frame, if necessary, and its
Table window opens. If two layers of a map point to the same underlying feature class
or shapefile, both are affected and you can use a relationship that has one of them.
Because relationships can be stored in a specific layer file, a layer cannot delete a
relation that has another layer even when the two layers refer to the same information. A
relationship owned by a table that is used to define an event source path or layer x, and
is not dragged to the layer of the event source. You must re-create the relationship for
the event source layer. If you relate to a table that does not have an object ID column
(such as delimited text files or OLE DB tables), you can not apply selections using the
relationship. The Related Tables command in the Table Options menu of the Table
window will show the relationship, but it will not be available. The Identify tool,
however, can still be used to search related records.
