Dear Friends,
At this time of year, we begin to experience,
with refreshed vigor, the abundant possibilities
for our work to find its most effective place in
the world, to transform what needs transfor-
mation and to effect changes for the better
that only we can accomplish as human beings.
A good example of this is the new book
Autism: Meet Me Who I Am (page 1)—following
two profound and enlightening seminars with
Dr. Lakshmi Prasanna and Michael Kokinos. The
book brings much-needed compassionate and
effective approaches to an increasingly impor-
tant issue for parents, teachers, and medical
professionals (read the excerpt on page 2). We
will soon have professionally filmed videos of
our seminar with Dr. Lakshmi Prasanna and
Michael Kokinos, which will be available from SteinerBooks.org.

Lakshmi Prasanna and Michael Kokinos Read an excerpt on page 2

This book is for parents and families, teachers and schools, doctors and therapists,
and anyone looking for a deeper understanding of children with autism. The children
themselves have led the authors on a pathway of efforts and ways to connect and
communicate their means of healing and educating children with autism.

Understanding Deeper Developmental Needs: Holistic Approaches for Challenging Behaviors in Children
Adam Blanning, MD
How do we best help a child who is struggling? Enlivening our observation skills allows
us to see consistent behavioral patterns and dynamics that show up in children’s
movement, learning, sensing, and memory. Constitutional, fundamental polarities—as
described by Rudolf Steiner—allow individualized, therapeutic approaches to chal-
lenges such as aggressive behaviors, attention problems, anxiety, autistic behaviors,
and depression. Teachers, counselors, and medical doctors will find valuable tools here.

Rudolf Steiner, Life and Work: 1923, The Burning of the Goetheanum (Vol. 6)
Peter Selg, translated by Margot Saar Read an excerpt on page 8
In 1923, Central Europe was still in disarray and social chaos created by the polarizing
events of World War I. In volume 6 of his seven-volume biography of Rudolf Steiner,
Peter Selg focuses on one of the most tragic years for the anthroposophical move-
ment, including especially the rise of nationalism and the seeds of hatred spawned by
Adolf Hitler and his followers. (See the first 5 volumes on page 18.)

The Anthroposophical Society: The Understanding and Continued Activity of the Christmas Conference
Edited by Peter Selg & Marc Desaules, translation by Margot Saar
In 2014, the Anthroposophical Society launched a series of conferences to deepen
the impulse of the 1923 Christmas Conference. These edited transcriptions of six
lectures—by Peter Selg, Stefano Gasperi, Mario Betti, Johannes Greiner, Gioia
Falk, and Marc Desaules—encourage us to move closer to and establish a deeper
existential relationship with the Anthroposophical Society and movement,
experienced through others and discovered within ourselves.

Elisabeth Vreede: Adversity, Resilience, and Spiritual Science

Peter Selg, translation by Marsha Post
Rudolf Steiner entrusted the Esoteric Section and the Mathematics and Astronomy
Section at the Goetheanum in Dornach, Switzerland, to Elisabeth Vreede (1879–1943)
because of her special abilities. He commented, “Miss Vreede is one of the people
who best understand my lectures.” This book—employing numerous, previously
unpublished documents dealing with tragic misunderstandings in the anthroposophic
movement—offers testimony to the greatness of this singular individual.

Spirit-led Community: Healing the Impact of Technology

Lisa Romero
“We must be prepared, as a collective humanity, with capacities and inner strengths
enabling us to freely choose the form of community life that we determine to be
needed for the future of humanity. We need to establish communities that are
dedicated to human freedom—communities in which the health of the community,
the education of the child, and social life are imbued with impulses supportive of the
cultivation of human freedom.” —Lisa Romero

The Child as a Sense Organ: An Anthroposophic Understanding of Imitation Processes

Peter Selg, translated by Catherine E. Creeger
Peter Selg investigates how children’s early experience of the world begins as an
undifferentiated sensory relationship to their environment. This leads to learning
through imitation and to the process of recognizing “the Other” as a separate entity
with which to interact. He describes the early stages of childhood from the perspec-
tives of conventional scientific and spiritual-scientific research with the purpose of
encouraging a new educational attitude in working with young children.

A Gift of Wonder: A True Story Showing School as It Should Be

Kim Allsup, foreword by Patrice Maynard
Wonder is a challenging word. It has been overused, abused, and commercialized, and
its real meaning is perhaps endangered. Yet, wonder is a uniquely human experience,
and to stifle or remove it from the lives of our children is to court a barren and dismal
future. Wonder remains alive, but we may need to be reminded of it. This story is a
living reminder of the simple beauty of childhood wonder and our responsibility to
the future—Never give it up!

School of the Elemental Beings

Karsten Massei, art by Franziska van der Geest
Karsten Massei is exceptionally sensitive to the invisible beings of life that always
surround us. He offers a gentle but powerful call, from elemental beings themselves,
to discard superstition and awake to the reality of life. The Earth is not a dead “rock”
hurtling through space, but a living being. Elemental beings are intimately, intrinsically
connected to the living Earth and to the living human race and suffer from our indiffer-
ence, egoism, and ignorance of life, but have much to teach us if we pay attention.

Songs and Dreams: By Seeking We Are Found

Neill Reilly
There is a correlation between waking experiences in a sleep state and inner experi-
ences in a waking state. Both involve awakened consciousness. The hundred-plus
songs and thirteen dreams in this volume are attempts to put into words inner events
experienced in waking consciousness. Inner experiences are filtered into images, ideas,
and feelings, which are then translated into words. This derivative process condenses
activity into words. The meditative reader can experience similar inner activity.

Riddle of the Human ‘I’: An Anthroposophical Study

Sergei O. Prokofieff, translation by Simon Blaxland-de Lange
In three great panoramas, the author develops central aspects of the topic, beginning
with the threefold nature of human individuality, followed by an illumination of the
cosmic dimension of the “I,” and finally an encapsulation of the significance of the
earthly ego. With his usual thoroughness and clarity, Sergei O. Prokofieff sheds light on
one of the fundamental questions of our time.

Rudolf Steiner and the Founding of the New Mysteries: Revised 2nd Edition
Sergei O. Prokofieff, translation by Paul King
The author investigates the deepest mysteries of Rudolf Steiner’s life and individuality,
from the “years of apprenticeship” and the “great Sun period” to the “path of the
Teacher of Humanity” and the “birth of the New Mysteries.” He discusses the earthly
and suprasensory aspects of the first Goetheanum building, the implications of the
Christmas Conference of 1923–1924, and the Foundation Stone meditation that Steiner
left as a legacy to members of the Anthroposophical Society.

Cognitive Yoga – How a Book is Born: Heavenly Jerusalem and the Mysteries of the Human Body
Albert Schmelzer, translation by Edward H. Udell
“This little book relates some experiences I had during the spiritual research that was
eventually published in my book Cognitive Yoga: Making Yourself a New Etheric Body
and Individuality. Usually I am concerned with communicating the objective results of
my research and not what I experienced while doing it. But an objective description
of what the individual soul undergoes during spiritual research can be valuable to the
study of Anthroposophy and to those who pursue the spiritual path themselves.”

New Life — Mother and Child

The Mystery of the Goddess and the Divine Mother: Rudolf Steiner’s Madonna Painting
Yeshayahu (Jesaiah) Ben-Aharon
In 1924, Steiner painted a watercolor of the Madonna and child, giving it the title New
Life. In his depiction of Mary, his painting draws us into the feminine expression of
spirituality. In this highly illustrated, full-color book, Angela Lord studies this feminine
principle, from the earliest stages of human evolution to the development of Christian
art, offering insights into the myths and legends of female deities and goddesses.

Conversations with Saul Bellow on Esoteric–Spiritual Matters

Stephen E. Usher
In 1975, Saul Bellow published Humboldt’s Gift, in which the main protagonist is occu-
pied with, among other things, the teachings of Rudolf Steiner. Readers familiar with
Steiner’s work recognized that behind Bellow’s artful depiction of Charlie Citrine is an
authentic effort to come to terms with Anthroposophy. Stephen Usher was one such
reader. This small book is a personal account of conversations and correspondence
that followed their meeting through a mutual acquaintance.

New i n T he Collec ted Wor k s o f

As an anthroposophic publisher, our primary task is to make available the works of Rudolf
Steiner in well-translated and well-edited professional editions. Therefore, we are com-
mitted to publishing The Collected Works of Rudolf Steiner in collaboration with Rudolf
Steiner Press in the UK. To accomplish this, we rely on the material support of our readers.
The publication of Steiner’s complete works in English is ambitious and cannot be realized
without the support of those who understand its importance for the world. The social,
spiritual, and cultural value of these and related works will endure, and wider recognition
of their importance will continue to grow. Thus far, we have completed 67 volumes. Visit
steinerbooks.org and click on “Collected Works” in the menu.

Rudolf Steiner, tr. & ed. Frederick Amrine, foreword by Douglas J. Cardinal,, introduction by David J. Adams
These lectures—accompanied by reproductions of more than a hundred slides—were
given as the Goetheanum building neared completion and before it was destroyed by

15 lectures, Dornach, October – November 1919 (CW 191)
Rudolf Steiner, translation by Matthew Barton

The Connection between the Living and the Dead

8 lectures, Germany and Switzerland, February 16 – December 3, 1916 (CW 168)
Rudolf Steiner, translation by Aria Jackson,, introduction by Christopher Bamford
As Europe was entering the third year of the most devastating and brutal war yet
known, Steiner gave these lectures as heartfelt attempts to address fundamental
questions of his listeners: “Given the fundamental reality of reincarnation, how do the
so-called dead remain connected to us? What meaning do these countless sacrificial
deaths have? What are the immediate experiences of those who have died?”

RUDOLF STEINER (1861–1925) was born and grew up in Kraljevec, Austro-

Hungarian Empire (now in Croatia). He became a scientific, literary, and
philosophical scholar, known for his work with Goethe’s scientific writings.
Formally beginning his spiritual teaching career under the auspices of the
Theosophical Society, Steiner came to use the terms Anthroposophy and
Spiritual Science for his philosophy, spiritual research, and discoveries. The
influence of Steiner’s multifaceted genius has led to innovative and holistic
approaches in medicine, various therapies, philosophy, religious renewal, Waldorf education, bio-
dynamic agriculture, Goethean science, architecture, and the arts of drama, speech, and eurythmy.
In 1924, Rudolf Steiner founded the General Anthroposophical Society, which today has branches
throughout the world. He died in Dornach, Switzerland.

orient those practicing on their own—perhaps after a few initial sessions with a
therapist—and for more experienced, nonprofessional eurythmists.

Spiritual Science in the 21st Century:

Transforming Evil, Meeting the Other, and Awakening to the Global Initiation of Humanity
Yeshayahu (Jesaiah) Ben-Aharon
Ben-Aharon discusses his investigations into the spiritual event of the 21st century, as
well as the new Christ event; the activities of spiritual beings in North America, Central
Europe, Scandinavia, and Israel; the renewal of education; the creative transformation
of antisocial forces; Israel’s diverse culture amid the clash of civilizations; and the
mission of the anthroposophic movement today.

The Logic against Humanity: The Myth of Science and the Path of Thinking
Massimo Scaligero
This book, considered by many to be Massimo Scaligero’s most important work,
examines the difficulties faced by modern-day philosophers and scientists who explain
the mystery of human existence through “discursive” thinking, which accounts for the
inherent limitations of rationalism and scientific presumptions. Scaligero views this
as a prevalent mental disorder in today’s culture. The transformation of thinking he
solicits is needed for the future progress of humanity and decisive for us today.

The Threefolding Movement, 1919: A History: Rudolf Steiner’s Campaign for a Self-governing,
Self-managing, Self-educating Society
Albert Schmelzer
The author presents a study of threefolding in the context of evolving social ideas,
comparing Steiner’s relevance to key political and cultural thinkers, reformers, and
radicals. Steiner emerges as a social innovator who was actively involved in the revolu-
tionary situation of 1919, although he rejected violence and was a consistent advocate
of democracy. Social threefolding is truly a fresh approach to human development.

Sources of Christianity: Peter, Paul, and John

Bastiaan Baan, Christine Gruwez, and John van Schaik
The three apostles Peter, Paul, and John are the most important starting point for
understanding the beginning of Christianity. Each brings a different background and
language—Peter’s Old Testament imagery, Paul’s connection with Greek culture, and
John’s independent lyricism. This fascinating book paints a vivid picture of these three
apostles, exploring what they had in common as well as significant differences, and
demonstrating their continuing relevance for today.

The Art of Colour and the Human Form: Seven Motif Sketches of Rudolf Steiner: Studies by Gerard Wagner
Edited and translated by Peter Stebbing, foreword by Peter Selg
Based on Rudolf Steiner’s indications, Gerard Wagner shows a wholly new approach to
the human form in art. The Art of Colour and the Human Form presents the seven motif
sketches concerned with the “spirit form of the human being,” as well as numerous
studies that Gerard Wagner painted over a period of thirty years. The intention of this
volume is to present an artistic approach to these unique motifs and to indicate their
potential “color build-up.”

examines the difficulties faced by modern-day philosophers and scientists who explain
the mystery of human existence through “discursive” thinking, which accounts for the
inherent limitations of rationalism and scientific presumptions. Scaligero views this

Anthroposophic Medicine for All the Family: Recognizing and Treating the Most Common Disorders
Sergio Maria Francardo, translation by R. Stenner
This invaluable book not only provides practical suggestions and advice regarding
common medical issues and ailments, but also presents the fundamental principles of
anthroposophic medicine. It explains the underlying picture of disorders in the human
organism and the therapeutic approach of anthroposophic medical practice, giving
answers to the questions that—in an ideal world—patients would like to discuss in
depth with their doctors.

Pythagoras, the Master: Philolaus, Presocratic Follower

Carol Dunn
The author shows that the early pioneers of modern physics—mainly Newton and
Kepler—scientifically and mathematically confirm Pythagoras’ discoveries of the sixth
century bc, the heliocentric theory of our cosmos and the parallel theory regarding the
Harmony of the Spheres. She also argues against the proposition that the heliocentric
theory was initiated by Pythagoras’ student Philolaus, whose astronomical theory,
according to Dunn, is not based on science.

The Three Wise Men: And the Birth of Jesus

Rudolf Steiner, selected and introduced by Margaret Jonas
In this focused anthology of lectures, complemented with illuminating commentary
by Margaret Jonas, we are offered solutions to riddles surrounding Jesus’s birth and
the seemingly conflicting accounts in Scripture. Could there have been two different
births—two infants named Jesus born to two sets of parents? From the mystery of the
birth, we are led to the Three Wise Men of Matthew’s Gospel. Who were they? What
was their teaching? What was the meaning of the star they followed and their gifts?

Karlik: Encounters with Elemental Beings

Ursula Burkhard

to dissuade her, she was puzzled—why should she believe in the “real” things she was
unable to see while ignoring what she knew to be true? A bestseller in Germany.

The Greatest Gift Ever Given: A Living Spiritual Mystery: Studies in Esoteric Christianity
Michael S. Ridenour
Ridenour studies Judeo–Christian mysteries. After humanity’s “fall” into material-

Darwin, Goethe, and Steiner’s “living thinking,” sharpening our dynamic focus on
current spiritual needs and offering thought-provoking responses.

Reincarnation: A Christian Perspective (3rd Edition)

spiritual beings who have brought everything into existence. And if we read long
enough in this silence, if we put our heart and soul into this reading, we begin to hear
